Note: For this adjustment, be sure to use the ink sheet and print paper of 10x15 (4x6) size. 1. Remove the rear panel. 2. Read the head resistance value. 3. Turn off the printer. 4.Short-circuit TP7202 and the chassis GND. 5. While holding down the CANCEL and DOOR OPEN buttons, press the POWER button to turn on the power. (The head voltage adjustment mode is activated.) 6. Observe the voltage at TP92. 7. Adjust the voltage at TP92 to the value specified in the list by pressing the CANCEL or FEED&CUT button. 8. Press the DOOR OPEN button to store the adjustment value in the memory. 9. Turn off the printer. 10. Print the head pattern in the built-in pattern print mode 1. Note: When printing other pattern after printing the head pattern, turn off and back on the printer. 11. Make sure that the printed test pattern is not burnt in its blackest area and all the shades are recognized. 12. If a burnt area or a shade difficult to recognize is present, repeat steps 3 to 11.

Adjustment points
Adjustment point and adjustment control on the PCB-DRIVE shown on the right, which become accessible by removing the right panel.

Adjutment procedure
1. Adjustment and check of the paper head sensor (S1), paper end sensor (S2), paper width (152/127) sensor (S4)
1. Close the door with no print paper installed. Note: Do not remove the door cover center. 2. Make sure that the voltages of the test points are set to the verification values in their L level as shown in Table 1. 3. Install the print paper and close the door. 4. Make sure that the voltages of the test points are set to the verification values in their H level as shown in Table 1. Verification value (V) L level 1.0 V or less 1.4 V or less 1.4 V or less Verification value (V) H level 4.0 V or above 4.0 V or above 4.0 V or above

2. Check of the ink sheet sensors (S5, S6, S7, and S8)
1. Remove the ink sheet and close the door. (The head is in the down position.) 2. Make sure that the voltages of the test points are set to the verification values in their H level as shown in Table 3 3. Install the ink sheet and close the door. 4. Select the ink sensor check in the motor test mode. 5. Measure the voltages of the test points shown in Table 3 in their L level. 6. While checking the voltages, press the DOOR OPEN button four times. 7. Make sure that the voltages of the test points are 0.7 V or less at least once in the four presses respectively.

HORIZONTAL POSITION ADJUSTMENT

Perform the following adjustment if the image is partly missing in the right or left area of the printout while printing about 10 copies or more successively on the first part of a new roll of the printing paper.

Necessary tools
Printing paper (CK9015) Ink sheet Miscellaneous electrical tools

Adjustment procedure
1. Print the solid gray pattern with marks in the BUILT-IN PATTERN PRINT MODE 1 and make sure that the printout has the right and left margins of the equivalent amount. 2. When the right and left margins are not equivalent, perform the following. 3. Turn off the printer. 4.Short-circuit TP7202 and the chassis GND. 5. While holding down the CANCEL and DOOR OPEN buttons, press the POWER button to turn on the power. 6. Press the DOOR OPEN button. (The buzzer sounds three times and the horizontal position adjustment mode is activated.) 7. Equalize the right and left margins of the solid gray pattern with marks by pressing the CANCEL button (that moves the image to the right) or FEED&CUT button (that moves it to the left). 8. Press the DOOR OPEN button to store the adjustment value in the memory. 9. Turn off the printer. 10. Print the solid gray pattern with marks in the BUILT-IN PATTERN PRINT MODE 1 and make sure that the printout has the right and left margins of the equivalent amount. 11. When the right and left margins are not equivalent yet, repeat the steps 3 to 10. Note: To exit the adjustment mode, turn off the printer. Note: You cannot check the adjustment value. When changing the adjustment value, count and record the number of times you press the CANCEL or FEED&CUT button.

ADJUSTMENT OF MARGIN CUT WIDTH

When the margin cut width is not in the range from 4.9 mm to 5.3 mm, perform the following adjustment.

Necessary tools
Printing paper (CK9015) Ink sheet Miscellaneous electrical tools

Adjustment procedure
1. Print an image on print paper and make sure that the margin cut width is in the range from 4.9 mm to 5.3 mm. 2. When the margin cut width is not in the range from 4.9 mm to 5.3 mm, perform the following. 3. Turn off the printer. 4.Short-circuit TP7202 and the chassis GND. 5. While holding down the CANCEL and DOOR OPEN buttons, press the POWER button to turn on the power. 6. Press the DOOR OPEN button. (The buzzer sounds three times.) 7. Press the DOOR OPEN button. (The buzzer sounds three times and the margin cut width adjustment mode is activated.) 8. Adjust the margin cut width to 4.9 mm to 5.3 mm by pressing the CANCEL button (that decreases the margin cut width) or FEED&CUT button (that increases it). Note: Because just one increment or decrement in the adjustment value changes the width by a large amount, the width should be changed by an amount as small as possible at a time. (One increment or decrement changes the width by about 0.2 mm.) An excessively small amount of margin cut width may cause a paper jam. 9. Press the DOOR OPEN button to store the adjustment value in the memory. 10. Turn off the printer. 11. Print an image on print paper and make sure that the margin cut width is in the range from 4.9 mm to 5.3 mm. 12. When the margin cut width is not in the range from 4.9 mm to 5.3 mm yet, repeat the steps 3 to 11. Note: To exit the adjustment mode, turn off the printer. Note: You cannot check the adjustment value. When changing the adjustment value, count and record the number of times you press the CANCEL or FEED&CUT button.
