Muammar Gaddafis days in power are over

THE teenage daughter of a woman murdered with her best friend on holiday in Turkey arrived back home in Northern Ireland last night. Shannon Graham arrived at Belfast International Airport with her father Raymond McGuinness and brother David as police continue to try to establish the true age of the prime suspect. Turkish waiter Recep Cetin, who had been in a relationship with Shannon, was arrested over the killing of Co Down women Marion Elizabeth Graham and Kathy Dinsmore. He has claimed he is 17 but prosecutors have raised doubts and if older he would be treated as an adult if charged with the double murder. Meanwhile, a Coleraine man who met up with the two victims and the murder suspect while on holidays in Turkey said Marion Graham had expressed concerns about her daughters vulnerability. Peter Ferris said there had been a strained atmosphere among the group and described Cetin as having a domineering influence. It was clear that Marion had concerns about her daughters relationship. She was worried about her [Shannon] being vulnerable. At the time, I suppose, it just seemed like an understandable conversation to have, but looking back now, it was clear that things were not right at all. I have been doing nothing but thinking that I could have done something to help, or stop it happening, he told the News Letter. It is hoped that arrangements will be finalised tomorrow to repatriate the two womens bodies. See page 7

Demise of Libyan tyrant welcomed

VICTIMS of the Gaddafiarmed IRA last night told of their joy at the downfall of a man whose arms shipments to republicans led to their heartache. For more than a decade, IRA victims from Northern Ireland and England have been battling for compensation from Colonel Gaddafi and as his regime appeared to have all but collapsed last night they remained upbeat about securing that financial recompense. However, with unconfirmed reports last night the Libyan dictator was holed up in his compound as rebels closed in, south Armagh victims campaigner Willie Frazer said that he was more concerned with the tyrants end than with the compensation case. And Mr Frazer, who started the campaign to financially punish Gaddafi for his role in thousands of murders here, said that he wanted to establish links between Ulster victims and Libyans who have suffered under the Gaddafi regime. This isnt just a one-way process and we intend to help the Libyan victims with the expertise that weve built up over the last 40 years, he said. Jonathan Ganesh, who was injured in the IRAs 1995 bombing of Canary Wharf, said he was overwhelmed with joy to see the end of an evil ruler. He said that victims of IRA terrorism had a moral duty to stand with the people of Libya. See pages 4-6
