August 22, 2011 ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTER for WYOMINGS OUT-OF-OPTIONS FURKIDS

e-WOOF is a bi-monthly e-newsletter produced by a small group of Wyoming dog rescuers in an effort to highlight shelter dogs in critical need of help.
dogs that face euthanasia within days unless they are rescued, fostered, or adopted. Transport can be arranged, in most cases, to approved adoptive or foster homes or rescue organizations. Please help us! These are good, healthy, happy, loving dogs that are out of luck and out of time. We urge you to crosspost to e-mail lists and Web groups, forward to friends, send to co-workers, and share with family. We hope our efforts, combined with yours, will save many lives.

URGENT - Casper, WY Contact: Cathy Corbin at 307-267-6524 or rescuerangers2@yahoo.com 1. KENO is a black Lab, 2 years old. Love black Labs? Well, check me out. Im young, a good walker on leash, neutered, and gorgeous! I appear to likely be purebred. I like people and other dogs. I also like wagging my tail and giving everyone I meet a great big smile. I really enjoy pets and will soak up every pet someone wants to give me. I need a new home fast! The pound is very full and I am scared. Please come adopt me!
Collie mix, 3 years old. I am a cute and friendly, smaller sized guy, and just like my name, Amigo, I am a friend to all! I enjoy going for walks and walk well on leash. I will stay close by the person walking me, but I will also be interested in my environment, and look at everything. I always have a tail wag and smile for whomever I meet. Im a quiet sort of guy, with a big heart full of love to share. Wont you please give me a second chance in life and come adopt me? The pound is very full and I need a new home quickly!

Time is of the essence for helping the dogs featured in the e-WOOF newsletters. Please contact the name/numbers for each dog before contacting e-WOOF. In most cases, time is limited for the dogs featured in our newsletters--with that in mind, we try to get the word out to as many contacts as we can using this publication. Work on behalf of the animals for finding them homes and/ or rescues comes from many, many sources and is an ONGOING effort dealt with a sense of urgency. In some cases there may be times when a sudden adoption and/or rescue comes through at the exact time our newsletter is issued. This is an unforeseen circumstance on our part--while we certainly understand the crossover may cause frustrations for you as the prospective adopter of an animal we hope you join us in rejoicing for an animal being saved. We appreciate and thank you for your continued support

Time Limited Cheyenne Animal Shelter Contact: Michelle Salisbury at 307-632-6655 or foster@cheyenneanimalshelter.org 1. SORA MOON (left) is a Greyhound/Labrador mix, 1-1/2 years old. Sora has lived with dogs and cats. She is very friendly. She is medium sized weighing abound fifty pounds. We have had her since June 23 so unsure if she is still totally house trained or not. 2. DOOGIE (right) is a Corgi/Chihuahua mix, 6 years old. Doogie is a fairly active smaller breed dog. His owners could not afford to reclaim him so left him in our care. He absolutely loves kids and gets along well with other dogs. He has been with us since July 19, so being totally house trained is not certain. 3. JACK (left) is a Labrador mix, 5-1/2 years old. Jack is a very active gentleman that loves to be around people. He does get along well with dogs, unsure about cats. He loves kids as well, but as bouncy as he is, probably best that he be with older children.

BUBBA is 1.5 years old, neutered, and will need current shots.
Heres poor Bubbas situation: Launa found Bubba approximately 2 years ago, and has been sporadically trying to find a home for him since. She hadnt planned on having a dog but wanted to help Bubba find a home. She is now in a situation wheres shes moving out of Casper at the end of August and cannot take him with her. Hes been on the Humane Society waiting list for approximately 3 months, so its unlikely a place will open up for him before she leaves. Unless she finds a home for him, her only other option is taking him to the shelter. Bubba weighs approximately 65 pounds, is housetrained, good

Romeo was found in a dumpster in January 2011. He has been examined, vaccinated, and neutered. He LOVES to run with people when they are biking! He is housetrained, good with other pets, and grows on you! Not pure bred--just pure fun! 2. GRAVY (right). Will be one-year old in September.
He is a very passive guy, housetrained, loves to run and play. He may be part setter, lab, dalmation, border collie--we do not know! Gravy would be a great companion for someone.

3. BUZZ (left). Unfortunately, he was not socialized as a young pup. When he first came to Happy Endings he was very fearful. He is making good progress now--gaining confidence daily and loves to play! He understands the doggie door and once he gets to know ya, and is a real cuddle bug!
MEOW! Happy Endings also has a variety of felines up for adoption: A 3 year old Mane Coon and 4 kitties from a feral mom. The 3 year old has been a house cat since he was a kitten. The owners have taken in kittens and are getting cramped for room. He is a good cat. The 4 kitties have been bottled fed and are now ready for adoption. They will be tested and given initial vaccinations and are eligible for low cost spay/neutering. __________________________________________________________________

Lab/German Shepherd mix, 8 years old. Hitchhiker came to the Shelter as the most tick-infested, tired out, sad dog ever. He seemed to have given up on life; he would take no interest in anything, he hardly ate, and all he wanted to do was sleep. After we picked off what seemed like thousands of ticks and treated him, he finally started coming around and is now a totally different dog. When you look in his eyes you can tell he has been through a lot but he is now willing to try again. He loves being brushed and appreciates every little bit of attention he gets. He will even play a little after you brush him because he feels so very good. Hitchhiker has a lot of love to give and would be a great family dog. There is not a mean bone in his body. He spends his days in Cels office, curled up on a soft bed. He also enjoys helping with meetings and will greet every person before settling down while we work. He will bring his new person incredible love and appreciation for anything they do with him. He is a very special dog who needs a very special home.

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldnt be afraid. As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didnt want her to know that I hadnt been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didnt want her to think poorly of them. As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldnt feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someones life. She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who havent walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one.

I RESCUED A HUMAN TODAY.

I rescued a human today.
