THE ACOUSTICAL PERFORMANCE OF THIS PANEL IS THE RESULT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF A SOUND ABSORPTIVE FIBROUS CORE COVERED WITH A VARIABLE IMPEDANCE LAMINATE. OPENINGS IN THE LAMINATE ARE SIZED AND SPACED TO OPTIMIZE THE ABSORPTION IN LOWER FREQUENCIES WHILE CREATING RANDOM MID & HIGH FREQUENCY REFLECTIVE SURFACES BETWEEN OPENINGS.

BENEFITS Provides sound diffusion in a shallow depth, flat panel Simultaneously offers diffusion and absorption for an integrated design Reflections can be diffsorptively attenuated without creating a dead space Extends the performance of absorptive fabric wrapped panels and stretch fabric systems at competitive prices Can be used to provide acoustic gain in conference rooms, classrooms, and auditoriums to improve speech intelligibility and reduce listener fatigue

THE ECOPHON FOCUS FLEXIFORM PANELS ENHANCE OR COMPLETE THE ACOUSTIC CEILING BASED ON THE REQUIREMENT. -The curved profile of these panels meet the main acoustic demand of the auditorium, i.e. they reflect the soundwaves from the speakers to the back seats of the auditorium. -They are placed at different levels & are angled to enhance the reflectivity of the soundwaves. -The ceiling of an Auditorium should be primarily sound reflected/diffusive (not primarily absorptive) in order to reflect early energy down to the audience promoting loudness and Intelligibility, hence the ceiling should be 30%-50% open to the space above to vent excessive sound power and/or promote reverberance. Forestage Clouds - Clouds immediately in front of the proscenium should be angled between 10 and 15 degrees and should be located 3- 5 higher than the proscenium opening to allow room for the audio system loudspeakers. Middle Clouds - Clouds in the middle of the Auditorium should be oriented horizontally to reflect sound to the rear of the room. Rear Clouds - Clouds in the rear of the Auditorium should be reverse angled to reflect sound to the rearmost seats and to prevent echoes off the upper, rear wall. Focus Flexiform curved ceiling panels enable to vary the heights of different parts of the ceiling. Raising and lowering the ceiling in this way can produce an innovative and exciting ceiling design & they meet the Acoustic demands of the auditorium. Cloud Shape A variety of cloud shapes are available from a simple curve (Waveform Monoradial), to simple curves in both directions (Waveform Biradial), to complex curvature in one direction (Waveform Spline) and complex curvature in both directions (Waveform Bicubic).

2 TYPES OF ACOUSTIC PANELS HAVE BEEN PLACED, -E C O P H O N E S O M B R A C E L I N G P A N E L S BY SAINT GOBAIN THIS PANEL TYPOLOGY IS COMMONLY USED IN CINEMAS & AUDITORIUMS, AS THEY IMPROVE THE SOUND EFFECTS OF THE PERFORMANCE OR ENHANCES THE SOUND QUALITY OF THE SOUND SYSTEM. THEY HAVE BEEN PLACED ALTERNATINGLY WITH THE SUSPENDED CEILING PANELS. THESE PANELS ARE PLACED HIGHER THAN THE SUSPENDED UNITS & THEIR MAIN FUNCTION REMAINS IN ABSORBING THE HIGH FREQUENCY SOUND WAVES.

-FREE HANGING UNITS BY SAINT GOBAIN THESE PANELS ARE PLACED LOWER THAN THE ECOPHONE SOMBRA PANELS & THESE ARE PLACED AT AN ANGLE. AS THEY ARE MAINLY USED FOR REFLECTING PURPOSES. THEY REFLECT SOUND WAVES TO THE AUDIENCES SEATED BEHIND & FURTHER AWAY FROM THE SOURCE OF SOUND.

C A R P E T IS ONE OF THE MOST PRACTICAL AND COST-EFFECTIVE PRODUCTS AVAILABLE FOR CONTROLLING NOISE IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT. -CARPETS ARE ONE OF THE FEW MATERIALS THAT CAN CONTROL NOISE IN THREE WAYS: REDUCING AIRBORNE SOUND, SURFACE NOISE AND SOUND TRANSMISSION TO ROOMS BELOW. WOOL CARPET REDUCES AIRBORNE SOUND Surface noise in a room is the sound from footsteps, dropped objects and furniture movement. Bare tile floors produce 7-12 times more surface noise than carpets , which cushion the impact of the noise source, absorbing and deadening the sound. This is achieved by converting some of the high frequencies into less noticeable lower ones. For example, footsteps on concrete create a high proportion of high frequency sound which will be heard as a sharp click or tap, whereas a carpet will change this to a muffled thump. Carpet reduces impact Sound is transmitted by the vibration of air molecules. T he porosity of the surface noise by over 20 db of carpets means that sound waves can penetrate into the pile, rather than being reflected back into the room as they would from a smooth surface. CARPETS ARE EXTREMELY EFFECTIVE SOUND ABSORBERS BECAUSE THE INDIVIDUAL FIBERS, PILE TUFTS AND UNDERLAY HAVE DIFFERENT RESONANT FREQUENCIES AT WHICH THEY ABSORB SOUND. IN THIS RESPECT, WOOL CARPETS ARE PARTICULARLY EFFECTIVE, AS THE MILLIONS OF WOOL FIBERS IN AN AREA OF CARPET HAVE A RANGE OF LENGTHS, DIAMETERS, CRIMPS AND SPIRALITY, WHICH ENABLES THEM TO ABSORB SOUNDS OVER A WIDE RANGE OF FREQUENCIES

THE MINIMUM STANDARD OF SOUND REDUCTION INDEX, Rw LIKELY TO BE REQUIRED FOR THE ENVELOPE OF AN AUDITORIUM IN A CITY TO PROTECT IT AGAINST EXTERNAL NOISEIS OF THE ORDER OF 65 DB FOR A CONCERT HALL OR 55-60 DB FOR A THEATRE.

THE INDIRECT TRANSMISSION CAN BE REDUCED BY MEASURES SUCH AS THE FOLLOWING: A) increasing THE MASS OF THE FLANKING WALLS; B) increasing the mass of the partition and bonding it to the flanking walls; C) introducing discontinuities in the indirect paths; D) erecting independent wall linings adjacent to the flanking walls to prevent energy entering the flanking construction; and sealing any air gaps and paths through ducts.

THIS REDUCTION SHOULD BE PROVIDED ON ALL SIDES, BUT IT WOULD BE REASONABLE TO MAKE THE Rw FOR THE ROOF 5 TO 10 DB LESS PROVIDED THE BUILDING IS NOT UNDULY EXPOSED TO NOISE FROM AIRCRAFT IN FLIGHT.

SURROUNDING THE AUDITORIUM WITH ANCILLARY ROOMS AND FOYERS IS AN OBVIOUS AND INVALUABLE PLANNING METHOD OF OBTAINING THE REQUIRED INSULATION AGAINST OUTDOOR NOISE.
