Teaching Area
This unit is taught using The Great Kid Game. You will play the game by moving along a giant game board. Along the way, you will stop at the Bible Story Square, the Lalalalala (sung like a musical scale) Square, the Silly Willy Square (where the kids will hear a joke, do a silly dance, or make a silly face), the Question Mark Square, and the Thinking Hat Square. The game board, created from poster board, is hung on the wall, or can rest on an easel or against a box in the middle of the teaching area. There are five large gift bags placed randomly around it, one gift bag for each stop. The bags hold fun props related to or needed for the game. There is also a stool, chair, or box for the teacher to sit on, by an easel or box used to hold a Bible storybook. A Helper mans a CD player in the back of the room to play music and optional sound effects. Be sure to practice each lesson in advance.
Music and
Sound Effects
The suggested songs are available on the Reach Up High and Touch the Sky CDs, and the lesson sound effects are included on the Fall Quarter Sound Effects #1 CD. (There are two sound effects CDs for the Fall Quarter; be sure you pull the first one.) Make sure your Helper is prepared to cue up and play the necessary sound and music for each lesson.

Helpful Hints
Be sure to give the kids an opportunity to get to know you by telling them about yourself or letting them ask you questions. When playing the games during the lesson, invite children to count along with you as you move the game piece. If your class has a lot of excess energy, ask kids to stand up and jump or twist their bodies to move the game piece along. As parents come to pick up their children, remember to introduce yourself and share with each parent some of the positive things you saw in their child.
