TRWD implementing Stage 1 of Drought Contingency Plan Aug. 29 Page 2

This is the first time TRWD has implemented restrictions under this Drought Contingency Plan based on its storage capacity. The plan was updated in 2007 in an effort to be more proactive in protecting the districts supplies. The update included elevating the Stage 1 trigger from 60 percent capacity to 75 percent. TRWD serves 1.8 million people in 11 North Texas counties, including 98 percent of Tarrant County. It owns and operates four area reservoirs: Lake Bridgeport and Eagle Mountain Lake to the northwest and Cedar Creek and Richland-Chambers Reservoirs in East Texas. The district determines its storage capacity based on the water supply levels of all four reservoirs. To read TRWDs Drought Contingency Plan, please visit www.savetarrantwater.com. -30-
