ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Firstly, we would like to thank our families to whom we owe all our inspiration and motivation. We are extremely indebted to the publishers of books and authors of various articles for giving us an in depth knowledge about lasers and their usage. We express our gratitude towards Ms.Padmini Singh and Mr. M. Kishore Naik, our in-house training faculty guides, for initiating us into this project and their kind assistance in the preparation of this file. Last but not the least, God, who continues to look after us and shower us with His blessings.

ABSTRACT
The topic that we decided upon for our in-house training is LASER BASED INTRUDER ALARM. This type of an alarm uses the laser technology to detect unwanted intrusion. LASER as we all know stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. A beam of laser from the transmitter circuit is focused is emitted onto an area like the entrance of buildings, or any place which is to be guarded/ protected. This emitted ray falls on the photo transistor of the receiver unit of the circuit. As long as the ray falls continuously on the transistor, the alarm is in the off state. If the beam is cut off, say if a person or an object comes in between the receiver and the transmitter unit, and if the laser beam does not fall on the photo transistor directly and the alarm starts to sound, the alarm goes to the on state. This is the basic description of a Laser Based Intruder Alarm. One can use this laser-based intruder alarm conveniently at the entrance of a hall or any other similar location to protect the same from unauthorized access as and when desired. Its range can be extended further to protect the perimeter of a building from unauthorized intrusion by using a cascade arrangement of multiple alarms. Through our study of this circuit, we wish to learn the construction, application and the use of this circuit in various industries, its manifestations, its evolvement and also we also wish to conduct some research to see if we can introduce some further changes in the circuit, which might be crucial to its existence since the advancement of technology has brought in different types of burglar alarms which have given the Laser Based Intruder Alarm a run for their money.
