HABAKKUK LESSON 6 HE'S THERE, DON'T BE ASHAMED TO PROCLAIM HIS NAME

CONSIDER HOW YOU RECEIVED THE GOSPEL, HOW DID YOU INITIALLY RESPOND, HAS DIFFICULT MESSAGES CHANGED YOUR WALK WITH CHRIST? 1. Recall how you heard the gospel. Did God use a person to share Christ with you? What did they say? How have you grown in the Lord through others proclaiming God's name to you? THROUGH TIM AND SHERRY WRIGHT. ALSO THROUGH JOHN, YEARS BEFORE. I DID NOT PARTICULARLY LIKE THE MESSAGE EITHER TIME I HAD HEARD IT. IT WAS THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTING ME AFTER THEY SPOKE AND CONFIRMING THAT IT WAS TRUE. MY OWN SPIRITUAL GROWTH CAME THROUGH PEOPLE EITHER DIRECTLY SPEAKING TRUTH TO ME OR THROUGH THE READING AND PREACHING OF THE WORD. I REMEMBER SEVERAL TIMES NOT ALWAYS LIKING WHAT THE MESSAGE WAS, BUT THEN CONSIDERED THE TRUTH AND RESPONDED IN OBEDIENCE BECAUSE O F MY LOVE FOR THE SAVIOR. I AM THANKFUL THAT PEOPLE WERE FAITHFUL TO SHARE THE TRUTH WITH ME EVEN IF I DID NOT RECEIVE IT HUMBLY. I AM SO VERY GRATEFUL TO FAITHFUL BELIEVERS WHO LOVE GOD MORE THAN THEY LOVE THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH ME. RECALL ALL WE HAVE STUDIED THUS FAR AS WE PUT YET ANOTHER PIECE IN THE PUZZLE FOR THE MESSAGE OF THE BOOK OF HABAKKUK. HABAKKUK FIRST CRIED OUT TO HIS LORD AND THOUGHT GOD DID NOT HEAR HIM IN ALL HIS TROUBLES. GOD TOLD HIM THAT HE DID LISTEN. HE ALSO NOW TELLS HABAKKUK THAT HE HAS A MESSAGE FOR HIM TO RELAY TO ALL THE PEOPLE. LOOKING INTO HABAKKUK'S LIFE ,WHAT DID GOD CALL HIM TO DO? 2. What two things was Habakkuk to do according to Hab. 2:2? a)Write the vision b) make it plain on tablets 3. Once the people heard the message, what were they to do with it? Hab. 2:2b that the one who reads it may _________RUN. SOME INTERPRET IT TO MEAN THAT A RUNNER WOULD READ THE MESSAGE AND SPREAD IT ALL OVER TO THE PEOPLE. ANOTHER INTERPRETATION WOULD BE THAT THE PEOPLE WERE TO READ IT AND

THEN RUN AND TELL OTHERS. THE MESSAGE WOULD BE THE SAME ESSENTIALLY, THE MESSAGE WAS TO BE SPREAD WITH URGENCY. WHY WOULD GOD GIVE PEOPLE A WARNING ABOUT THE JUDGEMENT THAT WAS COMING? 4. Why would God have Habakkuk tell others about the impending judgment? What does that tell you about God and His dealings with man? GOD WAS GIVING THE FAITHFUL HOPE TO KNOW THAT GOD WAS GOING TO DEAL WITH THE UNRIGHTEOUS AND FOR THOSE WHO WERE LIVING UNRIGHTEOUSLY TO FEAR AND TURN TO GOD. ALSO WE CAN KNOW FOR SURE THAT GOD ACTS ACCORDING TO HIS CHARACTER AND HIS WORD. SEE PS. 10 NOT ONLY JUDGEMENT, BUT ALSO GOD BEING KNOWN AMONGST THE PEOPLES 5. What else does the message that Habakkuk writes include? Hab. 2:5-16 THE IMPENDING JUDGEMENT ON THE SIN OF THE CHALDEANS. ALSO, THAT GOD WOULD BE KNOWN EVENTUALLY THROUGHOUT THE LAND IN A SIMILAR SENSE, HOW HAS GOD CALLED HIS PEOPLE TO SPEAK DIFFICULT TRUTHS TO HIS PEOPLE AND UNBELIEVERS? 6. Habakkuk's message would not necessarily be a popular one to share, what could be some problems that would arise when sharing bad news? Consider the following examples of God's people sharing unfavorable news with others. Whose message were they speaking their own or God's? Moses Ex. 4:22-23w/ the plagues to the Pharoah Joshua Jos. 7:10-15 re: judgment on God's people for taking goods out of the land of Ai/ burning of the individual for their sin Nathan 2 Sa. 12:1-12 re: David's sin w/ Bathsheba, judgment on his household and the sword never leaving his household, adversaries within own household, take wives and give them to your neighbor, child of Bathsheba will surely die Jonah Jon. 1:2 re: crying out against the city of Ninevah, their wickedness has come before Me Daniel Da. 4:23-24 re: Neb. What things are we to share with others? Are the truths of God's word difficult to share? Is it the same as what Habakkuk had to do? Ro. 3:10 AS IT IS WRITTEN THRE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NO, NOT ONE; Ro. 3:20 THEREFORE, BY THE DEEDS OF THE LAW NO FLESH WILL BE JUSTIFIED IN HIS SIGHT, FOR BY THE LAW IS THE KNOWLEDGE OF SIN.
