Properties GENIOSIL W180 is a ready-to-use waterproofing liquid membrane based on STP-E technology (silaneterminated polymers) for construction applications not regulated by standard. GENIOSIL W180 cures at room temperature on contact with atmospheric moisture. Processing Surfaces must be firm, loadbearing and free of contaminants. Remove all traces of loose existing coating material. GENIOSIL W180 exhibits excellent adhesion to a great many substrates such as concrete, screed, glass, ceramics, glazed tiles, wood and roofing sheets, as well as to metals such as aluminum, steel, zinc and copper. GENIOSIL W180 can be used without primer even on moist substrates, but not in the presence of stagnant water. GENIOSIL W180 can be used straight from the container, it just needs to be stirred briefly before use. It is applied by roller or suitable airless sprayer in two coats to a thickness of about 2 mm when dry. The second coat cannot be applied until the first has dried completely (after about 3 h at 23 C). After about 12 h (at 23 C), the treated surface will be completely dry and follow-up work can begin. A drop in temperature or humidity, or poor air flow may slow down curing.

Connection and expansion joints must be dimensioned and formed in accordance with relevant standards. The joints must be filled completely ensuring exclusion of air bubbles. Suitable backing material is essential. To obtain a cleanly delineated joint, its edges can be masked with adhesive tape before filling begins. The adhesive tape must be removed immediately following completion of the expansion joint. Equipment can be cleaned using commercially available solvents. Cured material can be removed mechanically.

It is important to ensure compatibility with adjacent construction materials (that contain plasticizers, for example, or release gaseous emissions). This may require clarifying with the manufacturer before such materials are used. Prior to its use on marble or natural stone, GENIOSIL W180 should be tested for edge discoloration. A drop in temperature or humidity, poor air flow or unusually deep joints may slow curing.
