Installing Click’N Design V5
Insert the Click’N Design V5 CD-ROM in your computer’s CD-ROM drive. The setup program
should automatically run. Follow the installation instructions.
If the CD does not automatically start, run the "setup.exe" program from the
Click’N Design V5 disc to manually start the install.

Choose Layout and Theme
To scroll among the quick design layouts on this win-
dow, click on the scroll buttons. For this example we
will use the "Sunny" layout.
Now we are going to select a theme for this layout.
Click on "Advanced Wizard Features."
On the "Select a Theme", "Select a Font Scheme" and "Select a Position Scheme" use the
left and right scroll buttons to view the different themes, or click between the scroll buttons
(white text area), to display a dropdown list of themes.
Update Text
The Click’N Design V5 Quick Designer also gives you the ability to customize the text in
the themes.
Click the "Update Text" button at the bottom of the Quick Designer window. The Quick
Designer Text Input window will appear.
On the left side of the window text entries
are done via your keyboard, on the right
you can select among the different object
titles found in your Quick Design. Once
you have edited a text object you can go
to the next one by clicking the scroll but-
tons. When finished, click on "OK" to
return to the Quick Designer. Then click
on "Finish" to transfer the Quick Design
to the Label template.

Print Your Design
By now your design should be on the main Click’N Design V5 window. Click the Printer icon
on the top toolbar to print your design. For this tutorial, you may wish to use a regular sheet of
paper. When making a real label, you will need to use actual label stock that matches your
selected template.
Tip: If you need more information about the Quick Designer or any of the advanced features of the
application, please go to the Help file.
Printer Calibration
Not all printer print alike. Variations on paper and bad or worn out printers can cause your print
out to be out of place. This is why Click’N Design has incorporated a printer calibration utility.
This utility enables you to better position the printing on the media. The Printer Calibration
Dialog is found in the Tools Menu. If you find that labels are not printing as well as you would
expect within the cutout areas on the label stock, calibrating the printer may help. Calibration
for your printer is only used within Click’N Design: it has no effect on other applications. Most
printers will not require calibration.
Select the units to use, either Millimeters or Inches, from the options under the Unit area.
Move your mouse over the area on the right and click the point representing the amount of
movement that is required by your printer to optimize printing for your labels. A green dot will
appear in the calibration area to mark your selection.
If the selection is not exactly where you desire, simply click another point to change it. Once
complete, hit the OK button to store your calibration offsets to be used with the selected printer,
or hit the Cancel button to ignore any selections you made within the dialog.
Correct use of the Printer Calibration dialog should allow for very exact placement and
alignment with your label stock paper.
Please recognize that variations between label stock and actual paper feeds with printers can
result in printing alignment issues that may not be fully resolved by calibration. Under most cir-
cumstances, you should be able to obtain acceptable alignment results by using the
Printer Calibration tool.
Most users will never need this tool. It is your responsibility to decide when and if a Printer
Calibration is required to improve printing placement on your labels.

CONGRATULATIONS!
You have created and printed your 1st label using the
Click’N Design V5 Quick Designer!

Step 2: Insert a Picture and Apply an Effect
Inserting a Picture
Click on the "Picture" button on the top tool
bar. The "Thumbnail Browser" will appear with
the different graphics that Click'N Design V5 has
installed on your system. Double-click on the
image that you want to import onto the label.
For this tutorial, double-click on the BCARD15
file icon, which is the "Bouncing Ball" graphic,
found in the right side of the "Thumbnail Browser". This will transfer the selected image to
the label.
Tip: You can reposition the image on the label by clicking inside it to select it, and dragging it to a new loca-
tion. Also, when the image is selected, you can drag on one of its outlined grab handles to resize the image.
Applying Effect
We will make this image semi-transparent by
applying an opacity effect. This effect can be
applied by selecting the "Opacity Properties"
control panel on the right side of the application.
For this example we will make the complete
image semi-transparent by moving the slider
value to 20. You will now see that the picture
blends into the CD Label.
Tip: The Opacity Properties are very powerful. More
information about this and other features can be
found in the How Do I ... section of the Help menu.

3D Text
Click the "3D" button on the top toolbar and
select "3D Text" from the menu that appears.
This will bring up the 3D text editor.
Use the 3D text editor to edit and format the
text. Text entry on this editor is done on the
right-hand side of the window.
Please click on the text "Sample" and then type
"Karina's" in the text box. Click the "OK" but-
ton when done.
Rotating 3D Text
Click the "Rotate" button on the top toolbar.
Then go to the "Karina's" 3D Text and click and
drag the mouse over the text. This will rotate the
3D Text to any angle. Click the "OK" button
when done and the new 3D Text will be trans-
ferred to the label.
Tip: If you're not sure what a button does or which
button is which, hover the mouse over it for a second
and read its description from the tooltip that appears.
Tip: You must first select the shading style before selecting the number of colors
9
From the Color Properties Sub-Panel, please select
the "Shading Type" that you would like and the
"Number of Colors" that the gradient will have.
For this tutorial we will select the starburst gradi-
ent and 3 colors.
Now choose 3 colors for the gradient (initially all
colors are white, which makes the gradient invisi-
ble.) Click the white box under each number, then
select a color from the palette that appears.
You may want to visit the Help Menu, How Do I...,
and then the section titled "Add Color Gradients to
Objects/Graphics".
Now let's add a shadow to this rectangle by selecting the "Shadow Properties" panel. Place
a check mark on the "Apply shadow effect". You will now see a drop shadow on your red
rectangle.
Since the rectangle is covering our text we will move it underneath by clicking TWICE on the
"Down One Level" button found in the top toolbar.
First Click: the rectangle is now under the 3D Text (the 3D Text appears on top).
Second Click: the rectangle has now moved beneath the 2D Text as well. Both the 2D and the
3D Text objects are visible on top of the rectangle.
10
Step 6: Printing
Click the "Print" button on the top tool bar to print the label you have created.
For this tutorial, you may wish to use a regular sheet of paper. When making a real label, you
will of course need to use actual label stock that matches your selected template.
Tip: Click’N Design 3D V5 has an extensive help file where you can find additional tutorials and
information about other advanced design features.
