IMC Networks Announces New Modular IE-iMcV-MultiWay

Compact, Versatile Gigabit/Fast Ethernet Media Converter Provides More Internal Powering Options for CPE/fiber Operations
AFITC Conference, Booth #248, Montgomery, Alabama, August 29, 2011--IMC Networks, - IMC Networks, a leading manufacturer of low cost media conversion and Ethernet fiber optic access solutions for LAN, MAN and FTTx applications, today released its new modular form factor IE-iMcV-MultiWay media converter. The IE-iMcV-MultiWay is a new member of the IE-MultiWay family and offers Gigabit/Fast Ethernet multi-function networking that performs several tasks for CPE/fiber operations. In an ISP application, when installing the new IE-iMcV-MultiWay at the customer premise, the device converts the fiber IPS connections to match the various copper interfaces. It can be paired with an iMcV-GigaFiberLinX-II as a host, creating a host/remote IP-less management relationship. Connections can be monitored using IEEE 802.3ah OAM, CFM management and configuration of the remote can be done through the host, said David Zaveski, Senior Product Sales Engineer at IMC Networks. The uniqueness of the IE-iMcV-MultiWay are its numerous features. It supports IEEE 802.3ah OAM (Operation, Administration and Management) and was designed with a simple upgrade path that is available through the companys free software download site. In addition, the IE-iMcV-MultiWay has a wide range of internal powering options when using the MediaChassis, the IE-MediaChassis and iMediaChassis products. The chassis options provide variable operating temperatures, including extended temperatures (IE) and both AC and redundant power. Similar to the IE-MultiWay, the IE-iMcV-MultiWay product provides the same multiple features to accommodate many applications. One sample application offers customers extended temperature ranges for applications where the environment is volatile, but also adds the convenience of having an internal power option at the CPE end, said Zaveski. Feature highlights for the product include two dual-speed SFP ports and two copper 10/100/1000 Mbps twisted pair ports. It can serve as a: managed fiber termination fiber repeater mode converter multi-port switch dual independent media converter media converter with 1+1 redundant fiber uplink

When connected to IMCs iMcV-GigaFiberLinX-II as a Host/Remote, it provides: SNMP management of the pair UMA (Unified Management Agent) support for several modules using the same IP address

When using it with the MediaChassis, IE-MediaChassis and iMediaChassis Series: 2 slot AC power (-35 C to +80 C) 2 slot extended temperature (-40 to +85 C) 3 slot AC power (redundant power source)

Availability and Pricing The IE-iMcV-MultiWay is scheduled to ship in September. Model 858-18121 lists for $600.00 and is available through IMC Networks extensive network of distributors.
