Purpose The new DTG program encompass Learning, Acting, and Sharing, which the boy records in his

personal Duty to God Manual and his personal journal. Leaders are encouraged to have a progress record and record requirements completed as individuals and a quorum (retrieved on 10/27/10 from http://www.dutytogod.com/bestpractice/). This Microsoft Excel file is a progress record tool which leaders can use . Instructions: 1. Tabs: Deacon/Teacher/Priest Each tab lists the Duty to God Requirements, and has open space below the requirements where the leader can write information. a. One sheet per boy in the quorum can be printed, stapled, three-hole punched, and placed into the leader's 3-ring binder. b. The leader can use the open space under each requirement to write dates and notes when the boy shared experiences in a quorum meeting, to write dates and notes when the boy shared experiences with him (the leader), or to write general notes on progress the boy is making toward that requirement. These Deacon/Teacher/Priest tabs can be used both by leaders and parents. 2. Tabs: Quorum Schedules Leaders are encouraged to hold monthly presidency meetings and plan to complete D2G requirements as a quorum (retrieved on 10/27/10 from http://www.dutytogod.com/bestpractice/). Study Joshua 1:8, 1 Nephi 15:23-24, 2 Nephi 32:3, Alma 17: 2-3, D&C 21:4-6. Make a list of words and phrases that describe: 1) How you should approach your study of the scriptures and words of the living prophets, 2) Blessings that will come as you study the scriptures and words Make a plan for developing a habit of regular prayer of the living profits. Read the section titled "Repentance" in "For the Strength of Youth." Write your answers to the following questions in a notebook or journal: 1) What do you learn about the Atonement and repentance from this section? 2) How does repentance help you grow spiritually? 3) What is Sections from "For the Strength of Youth" I will Study. the relationship between repentance, the Atonement, and personal worthiness? Discuss your Specific things I will do to live these standards and help answers w/parents or quorum members. Discuss how repentance will help you prepare to others do the same (write in pamphlet). enter the temple and participate in sacred ordinances. Choose at least three other sections from "For the Strength of Youth" that will help you live worthily. Study the standards in these sections, and write what you will do to live these standards and to help others do the same.

After studying and applying these standards, share with your parents or quorum members what you are learning, how it is influencing your life, and the kind of person you are becoming.

1c. Understand Doctrine Learn Act Share
Share the outlines you have prepared, teach others about these doctrinal topics. Read D&C 11:21. What promises does the Lord give to those who study His word? Look at the list of doctrinal topics on page 20, choose four or more you'd like to learn about. One of these should be "The Priesthood and Priesthood Keys." For each topic you study, create a simple Doctrinal topics I will study (write in pamphlet) outline. It could include: 1) a definition of the topic, 2) teachings and examples from the scriptures and your own life, 3) your thoughts and feelings about why this topic is important.

2. PRIESTHOOD DUTIES 2a. Administer Priesthood Ordinances Learn


Read D&C 20:76-79, Luke 22:19-20, 3Nephi, 18:1-11. What does the sacramental bread and water represent? And whom do you represent when you pass the sacrament? Ask your parents or quorum leaders the following questions: 1) What does the ordinance of the sacrament mean to you? 2) What can I do as a Deacon to help you have a meaningful experience with the sacrament?

Read "Physical Health" in your "For the Strength of Youth "and study the following scriptures: D&C 88:124, D&C 89, 1Corinthians 3:16-17. Identify principles that relate to physical health. Write down your answers to the following questions: 1) Why is it important to be physically healthy? 2) How will being physically healthy help you fulfill your priesthood duties? 3) What are the spiritual benefits of being spiritually healthy?

2. PRIESTHOOD DUTIES 2a. Administer Priesthood Ordinances Learn


Read D&C 38:42. The command "Be ye clean that bear the vessels of the Lord" has special meaning as you fulfill your duty to prepare the sacrament. Anciently a group of Priests carried vessels - bowls or basins - to be used in the temple (see Ezra 1:5-11). Today you handle vessels that contain the sacrament bread and water in remembrance of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

Write several phrases from your study that represent the attitude you should have when fulfilling responsibilities. With your quorum, discuss opportunities you have to serve others.

To learn about the importance of gaining knowledge, study the section "Education" in "For the Strength of Youth" and D&C 88: 77-80, 118. Identify from these verses: a) what the Lord wants you to learn, b) why He wants you to learn, c) how he wants you to approach learning. Read "The Family, A Proclamation to the World" and identify your role as a future husband and father. Write your answers to the following questions, and discuss them with your parents or quorum members: 1) What are the benefits of gaining an education? 2) How will gaining an education help you fulfill your priesthood duties?

Create a project that will help you apply what you have learned about gaining an education. It should include two parts: 1) plans to gain an education, 2) plans to explore future occupation options.

Attend a baptismal service, and share with a parent or quorum leader what you learned about the ordinance of baptism.

Write your answers to the following questions, and share them with your parents or quorum members: 1) How is your priesthood service different when you love those you serve? 2) What experiences have you had in which someone showed Christlike love for you? 3) How can you show your love for family members and others?

When you receive the Melchizedek Priesthood, you enter into the Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood. To learn about this Oath and Covenant, read D&C 84: 33-44 and quote "Melchizedek Priesthood" in "True to the Faith," pages 101-102. Then, with help from your Bishop or your parents, plan a time when you can teach others what you have learned. One important duty of Melchizedek Priesthood is to preach the gospel (D&C 53:3). To prepare for this duty, find out what will be required of you when you serve a full-time mission. Consider the following: 1) Personal worthiness and testimony, 2) gospel knowledge, 3) Christlike attributes, 4) work habits and physical health. Write down what you learn.

Create a project that will help you apply what you've learned. It should include two parts: 1) preparation to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood, 2) preparation for a full-time mission.
