How to implement a new DBMS:

Feasibility Study:
A feasibility study involves preparing report on the following issues: 1. Technological feasibility: Is suitable technology available to support database development? 2. Operational feasibility: Does the company have personnel, budget and internal expertise to Make a database system successful? 3. Economic feasibility: And benefits are identified? Will the desired system be costbeneficial? Costs and benefits are measured?

Old database management system, had limited file formats and also system programs were well managed.

User-friendly:
The old DBMS was easier to access and had the ability to guide the user to its identified direction by being simple and concise in operation.

Disadvantages:
Redundancy:
The old DBMS though had concise operation but the information was redundant. Different file formats were used to distribute the data to various users.

Poor security:
One of the major disadvantages of the old DBMS was that the chances of security threads were high. The System was too weak and too vulnerable with the associated threads surrounding it.

Advantages and disadvantages of New System Advantages:

Accuracy:
The basic benefit that the new DBMS offers is its accuracy and consistency to keep the data updated all the time.

Security:
Even with safeguards in place, it may be possible for some unauthorized users to access the database. In general, database access is an all or nothing proposition. However, serious steps are taken from the short comings of old DBMS to make security looks effective.

Disadvantages:
Cost:
Implementing a DBMS system can be expensive and time-consuming, especially in growing organizations. Training requirements alone can be quite costly.

Recommendation ;
It is difficult to describe and make a distinction about the ultimate added advantage of the new system. However, the change is a must, and time should tell whether new DBMS was a right choice or not. Although the step of changing to new DBMS is positive and concerning the future dynamism it is important for the company to develop skills for continually adopting the correct system.
