Daniel Medvedov KEEP SILENCE, BE NATURAL, BE FREE Vienna 2011

The Origin of the ALMATERIA Teachings in Venezuela In 1975, after a short stance in Rome and Madrid, Daniel Medvedov established permanently in Caracas, Venezuela, where he lived for some twenty-five years at La Boyera, First Street, and he chooses the Parque del Este as being the place for spiritual meetings. The place was of a significant and particular importance, both for him and for the group of seekers that he officially established in 1984, as ALMATERIA Foundation.

That Mango Tree at Parque del Este in Caracas was the place where he started the presentation of the so-called polimechanical talks and practice.
No official announcements were made about the meetings, but the number of members of the group, friends and university students, was growing.
Medvedov was invited in the same year, 1975, by Durga Shirali, wife of the cultural attach of the Embassy, and she herself international leader of the Rama Shakti Mission of Mangalore, to share with her group of meditation, the teachings of Rama Devi, Guru of Shakti Mission from Shakti Nagar, Mangalore.

Daniel Medvedov was living in Shakti Nagar Temple in 1981, and participated, for a while, at the spiritual meetings held there under the instruction of Tara Devi, actually the leader of the mission.
Returning to Caracas, Medvedov begun a close activity and held talks and practice of physical and spiritual exercises at the gatherings in Parque del Este, Caracas.
All this time, he was under the authority of the Great Master Su Yu Chang, who was living in Caracas, Venezuela, and whom Medvedov helped as a personal assistant and translator. Master Su Yu Chang initiated Medvedov in 1979, in the Pa Chi Pi Kua Wu Tang Mountain Teachings, the traditional line of the Great Master Liu Yen Chiao, from Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China.

Medvedov traveled to China and received in 1981 the international authority to teach and spread Wu Tang Teachings in the world, from the hands of the Great Master Liu Yen Chiao.
Meanwhile, after some years of study and close friendship, his friend and student Yogui Shankara initiated him in the Mantra and Kriya Yoga Teachings. Medvedov has been the Academic Tutor for the Thesis on Yoga presented at the Central University of Venezuela by Blas Garcia, in 1985, and this Blas Garcia was the same Master Yogui Shankara, who initiated Medvedov in 1986.
In the same year, in Margarita Island, with a special permission from the Master Charan Singh Ji, Medvedov was initiated in Radha Soami teachings and practice, a spiritual community from India, Punjab, Satsang Beas, by Leopoldo Luks, the Masters representative in Latin America of

After this ceremony, and one more, the last but not least, which was the initiation in the traditional teachings of masonry, under the privileges of the Grand Loge of Venezuela, George Washington 100 Lodge of Caracas, Medvedov refused to continue his search for meaning, having reached the spiritual significance of what we call truth. He begun to initiate seekers and disciples, years later, in 1991, with the international authority in Zen Philosophy of Change, that he received in Taipei, China, from the hands of His Holiness Zen Master Nan Huai Chin, in 1981.

By a happy chance, the Catholic University Andres Bello of Caracas, Venezuela opened a graduate course on Theology for laic students, and because Medvedov was a professor of that same Catholic University, he was received as a member and as a graduate student of the course, which he finished and graduated in 1997, as a Specialist in Theology.
The meetings of Almateria Foundation were held as a kind of a dialogue, and the number of the attendees grew up.


By the end of the decade (1980- 1990), D. Medvedov gave courses, speeches and talks only on Saturday mornings at 9 oclock. During the next decade (1990-2000), the number of his disciples in Caracas, and in the world, was about of some hundred people.
His views that the present times are similar to any other period of history were the main topic of his discourse.
Men, women, children and old people accepted him as a spiritual guide and asked for initiation. After moving to Barcelona in the year 2000, and soon after, in 2004 to Miami, and in 2007, to Madrid, this challenge and privilege still continuing today, in Vienna, at Robert Hamerling Gasse, 1, in the year 2011.


His spiritual statements are not different than the traditional Zen teachings, and he established a so called Latin Zen Philosophy, in order to differentiate himself from the religious movement of Japanese Zen teachings.
Being himself a Chinese Chan student, he truly if not deeply understands what does this means.
Against the religious and pious attitude showed by the European groups of Zen, Medvedov spiritual teachings are suggesting a natural silence, and a continuous state of a spontaneous meditation practice in every moment of our everyday life, with no Zazen, with no uniform, with no praise to any saint or specific god, but taking spiritual energy as a goal. His group, ironically called ONIGAMI Religion, for those ones who have no religion, is based on imagination, intelligence, fantasy and creativity.

No fanatic worship for a Master or a Guru, no theatrical ceremonies, no incense, no praise. All the members are adepts, colleagues, and the teacher is the guide, is a friend, and is a brother. With nothing to hide, with nothing to show. After publishing in Internet all his work, consisting in more than five hundred writings, which can be download freely by everyone, he begun familiar to the www readers community: he is known to many and is cited in several works and www sites.

He lives for now in Vienna, where he opened a Latin Zen Meditation Hall at Robert Hamerling Gasse 1, Barada Dance Studio, 1150 and hold classes at Burggarten, in front of Palmenhouse, on Monday and Wednesday at 6 pm, in the first district.
Meanwhile, in his absence, the meetings of the ALMATERIA Foundation in Caracas are closed, even if he still in close contact with all his friends. Brotherhood is most cherished in ALMATERIA.
The influence of Daniel Medvedov is not yet very open for seekers and students, and one of the reasons is the fact that he is not friend of publicity and marketing. What he is selling has no price, and it is not found at the pharmacy. As a linguist, he discovered the Universal Code of Language, and between specialists, the topic is not yet known, even if he presented it in Barcelona, Caracas, or Madrid, in congresses and scientific meetings.

The followers of Medvedov and of his ideas grow day by day, on international scale, after his academic and spiritual work in many cities, like Caracas, Miami, Madrid, Barcelona and Vienna.
His opponents, probably not a little number, are working in shade: never had he the opportunity to meet them, but the nonverbal communication of the lack of interest and a certain academic despise are clearly present.

He seems not to be well accepted in the university circles, even if his experience of some thirty years of university teaching as an Academic Tutor is present in more than one hundred works of students in undergraduate and graduate levels.
Many are confused, and because their interest led them to an orientation towards superstitions and mysticism, they take for granted that anyone speaking about superstitions and mystic vision is a fake and a bluff.
In addition to the external image and other prerequisites to consider somebody as a guide, many students claim for a ritual, for a ceremonial attitude of the master, for a uniform, for a brilliant face, and it is not common to accept simplicity and no adornment in words and behavior.

It is common to deny the internal maturity of a person who is like you, with no show on powers and with no special clothes. The conditions and requisites of a guide are not clearly stated in traditional Zen teachings, even if the Buddhists ask for special things and powers (siddhi) - of the leader. The reasons for the increased public significance of the ALMA TERIA Teachings of Daniel Medvedov have been also sought in the very Latin Zen essence of his writings. An important circumstance is that D. Medvedov teachings distinguishes by its practical and polimechanical orientation. The intellectuals are not much attracted by the perspective offered by D. Medvedov, who pretends that erudition is nothing, because does not teach us to understand the meaning of existential matters as birth, destiny, disease, and life in itself.
He states, as other spiritual master have said, that, if not today but soon enough, a new order would become triumphant on Earth by means of the Self cognition and of the idea that the Self has no need of any kind of improvement, because the Self is perfect, brilliant, luminous and eternal in each human individual. This major idea behind the statement seems to convince seekers that they have to get rid of such trends as emancipation of the Self, because the Self has no need of such thing as emancipation.

Clear and well sustained from an ontological point of view, it is attractive to discover that all of us, we all have to return at the Self neutral point of our life, first by breathing, and later through a spiritual surgery. We all are perfect, but we do not know it, because modern life is tending us multiple tramps to forget, dismiss and decline the internal call of our perfect being, called the Self.
This search lies deep in the consciousness of our contemporaries.
The teaching of Love and of Truth as two main and universal principles of our existence, and, besides all, the brotherhood among people is a clear point in the spiritual teachings of Daniel Medvedov. It answers doubts of social and ethical questions, and shows the straight road of the existential meaning, an aspiration of all time and civilizations.

There is another aspect of the teachings of Medvedov: the personality of the Self, within the frames of the sociocultural background, emerge very distinctly in each one of us and we call for help, we need a friend who may tell us where is the goal, and where is the origin of our spiritual disease for fame, power, commodity and knowledge.
In its most pure form, wisdom appears to be our goal and the origin of all our misunderstanding might be found in our need for an easy life, a dolce far niente, instead of a dolce far tutto. Because doing everything is doing nothing, as Lao Tse states in his wonderful book Tao Te Ching.

As a social prototype, the spiritual leader, be it called guru, or master, or teacher, is a familiar name for the religious and philosophical seekers involved not only in religious practices, but truly enough in such as artistic ones.
Being a Master is a work, which has nothing special in it, it is not a category, or a level where an individual may come, reach or attain.
The term Teacher has an ancient tradition in all arts and techniques, and suggests a certain spiritual meaning, a base in which lies the idea of a being coming here, in our present life, as Leonardo da Vinci stated in his Diary, from a higher heaven hierarchy, a messenger of Universal Principles, who is entrusted, from the High, with the destiny of a mission to condense the meaning of the Self, and to raise prosperity and health for his humble

 and poor of understanding fellows, all these ones called ordinary people.
But, says Medvedov, we all are ordinary, and only those who we love are extraordinary fellows. In our Western European civilization, that notion was not introduced by the moderns, and like the original Indian mystic currents, the Western philosophy content has plenty of testimonies of living masters.
Remember one: Socrates!
In Daniel Medvedov views, the ties between Teacher and disciples are based on equal opportunity trends, on deep mutual respect, but not on relevant ethics or on erudition ground.
To be a disciple is absurd, it is not a goal. You have to become an adept of the Self, and not a slave of the Master!

The influence of Daniel Medvedov on those who are around him is not openly showed, just because all of them are his friends, his dear friends.
The ALMA TERIA group is a spiritual school and as a school has branches onto the heart, not outside.
The members of the almaterian brotherhood call one another astronauts or just brothers, lets put here sisters too, for the sake of outsiders, even if adding this is an oxymoron.
By this name they express the idea of being astronauts in this world in which the travel towards the Self belongs to another planet, to another galaxy. One of the purposes of the group is to achieve the quest for the meaning of the Self, doing so in our everyday life.

Daniel Medvedov himself never declared that being a master has in it something special. To make a monopoly over the spiritual search is not a privilege of a master. It is a privilege of oneself. He does not pretend to name what he teaches as knowledge of himself, with a copyright of his name. Everybody may take it, and if wanted, swallow it, process it, and later, throw it away. He is not against initiation, because this ceremony has a deep interpersonal meaning and works energetically in the body, a fact that cannot be ignored today.
The spiritual energy he, Daniel Medvedov, a seeker, received by initiation, directly from the hands of his masters is, truly enough, transferred to the disciple who ask for initiation, not by a mechanical transfer, but indeed, energetically and by all means, by an ontological touch of somebody who is already a member, and is

a pearl of the Philosophers Rosary, that mystical and universal brotherhood. The initiated one becomes a pearl of the same rosary.
His personal name is just a glimpse of ancient and eternal teachings and his theoretical and practical conceptions system belongs to large series of other names. He called his teaching ALMA TERIA, animated love, and his disciples, most of them initiated and for now, full adepts are all astronauts of the Milky Way.
By Milky Way he understands a cosmically present and a celestial visinvisible community of beings that have reached the privilege to become adepts of Love, Beauty, Truth, Justice and of some other twenty more universal archetypes.

They strive to complete their spiritual quest of the Self, in the material world of Madonna, she herself in a spiritual quest of Khaballah.
They have reached the step of Light, and ever since, the Energy is a conscious and constant power in their life. The term Astronaut is, in fact, a greeting among ALMATERIANS.
They answer to this word with another one: CO-SE-BU-MA, which means in Spanish CO-mo SE-r BU-en MA-estro. So, they may know, and have it present as a trend, how to become a good master.
The disciples of Daniel Medvedov, now, many of them independent adepts, use to call their own movement, with a name they have adopted: ALMATERIA.

The astronaut is a metaphor of a saying: be of this world but do not belong to it, be of this world but do not install in it.
They do not consider that their spiritual community is an expression of purity or high spirituality, just because the Self, present in all humans, is always pure and spiritual.
At that time, the teachings of Daniel Medvedov are winning followers, because much of them discover deep ties between eastern mysticism and the western scientific vision, a kind of a East-West Essence community, longing for unity.
According to his teachings, both Christian seekers and their leaders, and the texts, need explanations coming from wise fellows, those who plainly understand the mysteries of the modern life.

Most of the Christians do not understand the Christian theology.
In 2007, after returning from Miami, Daniel Medvedov stayed in Madrid, at Azulinas 7, 28036. He was not recognized then, as a master, by any, like Democritus in Athens.
At the same time, he did not stop to hear the advise of his friend and disciple, now an adept, Patricia Heigl, to reach Vienna. In what concerns to myself, Luis Casanova Sorolla, I entered in contact with Medvedov, and after some years, I invited him to come to Vienna, where we opened together a Meditation Latin Zen Hall at Robert Hammerling Gasse, 1.
I, Luis Casanova Sorolla, am not an adept, because I did not ask him initiation, yet. But, I am his disciple, because I do like his spiritual discipline.

His talks on meditation at Mandalahof in Vienna, and his classes of Tai Chi in Burggarten, and at Enso Academy are very important to me.
The access to his teachings is not restricted: as before, it was never forbidden to anyone to come at any of his lectures, and so it is for now.
Surely enough, the newcomers are not considered as future members of the movement. Daniel Medvedov always revealed through his talks his ideas in the presence of everybody.
His aim is to work with a wide circle of people as possible in order to suggest them that there is something easy to understand, but which they lack to understand.
The first talks and practice in the open air at the Mango Tree in Parque del Este, in Caracas, Venezuela, dated from 1984.

The object of the meetings on Saturday morning was the practice of posture, fallingdown and recovery, and breathing exercises. During the practice, Daniel Medvedov talked to all present there about the Language of the Birds. On January 28, 1991, one of his friends, Richard Strauss Morales, now a lawyer in Boston, asked him to be initiated. He was, among many others, a disciple, and become the first initiated one of the group, the first adept of ALMATERIA.
Immediately after, the older students and disciples of the group asked Daniel Medvedov to be initiated in the way of the energy.
Daniel Medvedov himself define the meaning of ALMATERIA as a spiritual place where live the universal principles of Love, Truth, Justice, Beauty and some few more. Was there a place for the Archetype Alliance Truth Network!

To get truth is dif?icult. Truth is the natural and the logical way to become a real open- thinking person. Strange words and tight expressions are, for many language travelers, everyday tools. They ?ind that they have to use a number of casual words to travel around the same notion, with no gain of meaning.
With each traditional principle, a simple word as it seem to be the word truth, the traveler becomes a new frequent truth traveler, so he earns a smaller number of principle points over a greater number of strange words never collecting enough understanding for the rewards of meaning he really wants when speaking. This is not true when one uses the Archetype AllianceTruth Network.
