Teaching Perspective Inventory

The purpose of this report is to present my personal interpretation about Teaching Perspective (TPI) on Good teaching. TPI means Teaching Perspective Inventory which is an online test which measures the teachers role on the learning process and according to our values; thoughts and ideas in the educational field help us to identify our perspective on teaching in general. The test is available for anyone but especially for those ones who are into the teaching field such as Professionals, Instructors in Preparation and Students. The importance of knowing my personal Teaching Perspective is that I can

establish my own philosophy about teaching and at the same time I can realize what it is my dominant and recessive perspective on education.

I have two highest perspectives the first one which is that my dominant perspective is Apprenticeship with a total of 41 point. In this perspective teachers are characterized by their expertise in teaching language in order to communicate effectively and deliver information orderly (starting from simple to complex). Here teachers should identify what students skills are or what they can do and just to provide some direction and leave them learning by their own taking their own responsibilities of leaning as learners. And the second one is Transmission which is my Back up perspective with a total of 38 points where teacher should be a master of the subject and content. And those ones must be teaching systematically. So they should have a clear idea about what there are teaching and take into account every single detail such as: the goal, pace of lecturing, answering questions, providing feedback and so on into the task leading.

What I can say about perspective is that is a simple way to know and realize about what our teaching perspective is because sometimes we do not know what is our teaching philosophy, probably we think about what a teacher should be but we do not know how it called that was my case.

So, now this information is useful to me because it clarify my philosophy on teaching and those ones fit with my point of view on teaching in a certain way. I consider that my dominant Perspective should be Transmission because I feel that this one fit much better with my beliefs, thoughts and ideas than Apprenticeship perspective.
