About FMAA The Fil-Mission Auxiliary Association (FMAA) is a nationwide, non-political, non-profit, Catholic lay association whose main

aims are the propagation of missionary consciousness among the Filipino people and the sanctification of its members. It is a parish-based organization. It has various units in different parishes in the country where it is recognized, authorized and controlled by the parish which has jurisdiction over them. The Vision The FMAA envisions "A community of lay missionaries actively living and sharing the gift of faith in the light of the Gospel towards the growth of the Filipino Church." This primarily stems from the belief that by virtue of our baptism each one of us is a lay missionary and together we shall live and share the gift of faith. Further more, as propagators of vocations and missionary consciousness, every FMAA member shall be a model of Christian maturity.

Sa limang linggong magkakasunod, ang magiging tuon ng ating mga pagninilay ay si Jesu-Kristo bilang Tinapay ng Buhay. Sa Linggong ito isasaad kung paanong lilingapin ni Jesus ang napakaraming nagugutom. Humigit kumulang limanlibo ang mga lalaki, kabilang dito ang mga alagad ni Jesus. Sinusundan nila si Jesus pagkatapos nilang masaksihan ang maraming pagpapagaling na kanyang ginawa. Naganap ang pagpapakain sa madla sa burol ng Tiberias. Umapaw ang pagkain. Lahat ay nakakain hanggat gusto nila. Hindi lamang nabusog at nasiyahan ang lahat; lumabis pa ang mga tinapay at isda at tinipon ito sa labindalawang bakol. Larawan ito ng kagandahang-loob ng Diyos, kung paano siyang nagdadalang-habag sa mga nangangailangan. Masasalamin din dito ang kapangyarihang taglay ni Jesus. Hindi lamang sakit ng tao ang malalapatan niya ng lunas, maging ang malawakang pagkagutom ay handa niyang tugunan. Nagbibiyaya ang Diyos sa lahat nang higit sa sapat. Mahalagang maunawaan na ang pagpaparami ni Jesus ng tinapay at isda ay naganap kasangkot ang tao. Naroon ang kanyang mga apostol tulad nina Felipe at Andres. Naroon din ang isang batang lalaki. Kahit na po halagang 200 denaryong tinapay ang bilhin ay di sasapat para makakain ng tigkakaunti ang mga tao, tugon ni Felipe kay Jesus nang subukin siya nito. Kinakatawan ni Felipe ang pagka-praktikal ng tao. Binigyang-tinig niya ang ating makitid na pag-iisip at kawalan ng pananampalataya. Inilalarawan niya ang mga pagkakataong napako tayo sa pagbibilang at

nanalig lamang sa mga bagay na nakikita, nasasalat at nasusukat. Sa kabilang banda, si Andres naman ang kumakatawan sa maliit nating pananalig sa Diyos. Mayroon po ritong isang batang lalaki na may dalang limang tinapay na sebada at dalawang isda. Ngunit gaano na ito sa ganyang karaming tao? Taglay ni Andres ang pananampalatayang maaaring lumalim. Tinuruan siya ni Jesus nang tanggapin nito mula sa batang lalaki ay mga tinapay na sebada at mga isda. Ang alay ng batang lalaki ang alay ng isang dukhamaliit at hamak subalit mula sa isang taong marunong magtiwala at manalig sapagkat may kababaang-loob. Marami pa rin ang mga nagugutom ngayon. Nangako si Jesus na hindi niya tayo iiwan at pababayaan. Alam niyang bukod sa pagkain, marami pa tayong ibang uri ng pagkagutom. Nagkakaroon ng di pagkakaunawaan sa pamilya. Kinakapos sa pagmamahalan ang magkaibigan. May mga biktimang naghahanap ng katarungan. Naghahanap ang mga kabataan ng tamang paggabay at saysay sa buhay. Naghihintay ng ginhawa ang mga maysakit, matatanda at mga nangungulila. Sa atin umaasa si Jesus sa pagkakataong ito. Tayo ang maliit na batang inaasahan niyang hindi mangingiming magkaloob ng ating alay gaano man ito kaliit. Sa kamay ni Jesus, ang ating alay, gaano man hamak, ay makasasapat para sa lahat. Kasama tayo ni Jesus

TORONTO, JULY 15, 2009 (Zenit.org).- The themes of sheep and shepherding flow though the Scripture readings for the Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year B). The moving Gospel story of Jesus having compassion on the crowds that were "like sheep without a shepherd" helps us to focus on his ministry of teaching, reconciling and shepherding. Literature of antiquity often referred to the person responsible for guiding a community as a shepherd. Likewise, the Old Testament frequently described the Lord himself as the shepherd of his people. Individuals invoked him as "my shepherd" (Psalm 23:1), and the community prayed to him as the "Shepherd of Israel" (Psalm 80:1). compassion" on him and forgave the huge debt. Jesus' Compassion Jesus saw the sick and his compassion healed them. He saw those possessed by demons and his compassion freed them. He told the story of a king who was owed a huge debt by his servant. When the servant could not pay, the king ordered him thrown into slavery, along with his family. In today's Gospel the disciples come home exulting in their first missionary experience. Jesus invites them to make a retreat, "You must come away to some lonely place all by yourselves and rest for a while." In our own times people continue to go apart to make retreats. In recent years the trends in retreats have been changing. The first of the trends, basic to most of the others, is that the emphasis has moved from morality to spirituality. In the days prior to Vatican II, most retreats assumed and emphasized that things weren't going all that well in the lives of people who came. At the top of the agenda, you would find awareness of sin and the need for wiping the slate clean before returning to a sinful world. But in the wake of Vatican II, interest in this kind of retreat died out, and the retreat movement might have gone with it. But from the ashes rose retreats with a new emphasis - spirituality. The focus became spirituality and prayer experience rather than the heavy morality of the past. The interest today is in a more holistic spirituality. That is, people are not as preoccupied with the vertical link between God and the soul, but are concerned with all aspects of the human and their connection with the divine. In other words, this spirituality concentrates on the whole person, on all of the person's life. Because holistic spirituality also includes the body, often seen in the past as the enemy of the spiritual life, several retreat directors now include exercise programs in their retreats. Some would bring in a nutritionist or a doctor to speak during retreats, while still others have artists and musicians participating in retreats in an effort to help achieve integration.

While interest in prayer and silence and solitude remains very high, an increasing number of people are coming to retreats because they are suffering in some way and are looking for help. They are hurting and looking for healing. They can often be helped to healing through an individually directed retreat or through a peer co-counseling type of group retreat. But there is another sense in which the spirituality one finds on retreats has a holistic character. It not only emphasizes the individual as a whole, but creation as a whole, and, human beings as part of that creation. Further, this emphasis says creation reveals the Creator, and, indeed, is the first source of revelation and where God can be experienced. One reason the retreat directors may be turning toward creation spirituality is that its strong thisworld dimension forms a basis for a social justice focus, an area in which efforts have been inconsistent up to now. Not surprisingly, the traditional retreat of the past whose content tended to be the same, also had a format that was considered more or less standard. There are many new formats today in which participants don't just listen passively, but participate actively and interact with each other. Often this approach is called process. It emphasizes helping people make discoveries usually about realities already present in their own lives, rather than sharing new information. What's more, in their dialogue participants go beyond discussing ideas to a deeper level of sharing their personal feelings, experiences and faith. This process is particularly powerful in retreats focusing on participants with a common hurt - such as the divorced or widowed dealing with their loss.

However, the most remarkable trend in today's retreats is the bursting interest in contemplative prayer. No doubt many traditional prayers - such as the rosary and rote prayers featuring lots of words, memorized or read from a book - are still in evidence during retreats. Minsan tinanong ko ang aking sarili kung ano ba ang misyon ko sa buhay: ang maging Ina, maging public servant, maging guro, o maglingkod sa simbahan? Paano ba malalaman ang ating misyon. Kailan natin malalaman ang kanyang pagtawag. At kailan darating ang panahon na tanggapin ang misyong iyon.

Naalala ko ang pelikulang "Divine Mercy." Binigyan siya ng Panginoon ng kakayanan sa paggamot. Tinanggap nya ang isang pagtawag ng walang paga-alinlangan. Na kahit ang lahat ay magiging katuw- tuwa sa mga mata ng tao. Matapang niyang hinarap ang ano mang pagdududa at kawalan ng tiwala ng mga Minsan sa sobrang pag ka busy ng tao sa kanyang buhay at kasama ang mga karangalaan, dumarating sila sa pagkakataon ng tao. Isang tunay na pagmamahal para kay Lord. paglimot na manalangin. Sana sa kabila ng mga hadlang kaya nawawalan tayo ng oras manalangin, sana bago natin ipikit ang Ang mga pari at madre ay inisip ko na tumanggap sa kanilang ating mga mata matuto tayong magpasalamat. Ipakita natin sa mga misyon sa buhay sa pamamagitan sa paglilingkod sa Pangi- kanya na mahal natin sya. Sa walang hinihinging oras at lugar noon. Masasabi ko na masaya sila sa kung anuman ang nan- maaari tayong manalangin. gyayari sa kanilang buhay. Anung misyon ang meron tayo sa ngayon? Ang tayo ng misyon? paglilingkod ba sa simbahan o ang pag sunod sa mga utos ng

Diyos. Hindi man tayo naging mga pari o madre alam kong isang magandang bagay para sa mga mata ng Panginoon ang paglingkuran sya. Pagbalik sa di mabilang na biyayang tinanggap sa bawat araw. Ang paglalaan ng oras sa kanya ay mahalagang bagay. Ang paglilingkod sa simbahan ay hindi matatapos lang sa pagtawa sa kanya bilang isang Volunteer. Bagamat may mga hadlang kung kaya hindi ito maipagpatuloy makakatulong pa rin ang pagmamahal sa Panginoon sa pamamagitan ng panalangin. Ang pag aalay ng panalangin ay sadyang makapangyarihan. Kadalasan sa ating karangyaan nalilimutan natin sya. At naaalala sa oras ng pangangailangan. Kaya siguro binibigyan tayo ng pagsubok ni Lord upang makausap natin sya. At minsan binibigyan tayo ng Panginoon ng mga hamon upang malamam kung gaano tayo katatag na harapin ang isang problema kasama sya.

Recruitment Agencies Frowns on New POEA Rule


Groups of recruitment agencies openly aired their protests against new memorandums from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) that adds 44 overseas jobs to the classification of low- and semi-skilled overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). According to the Federated Associations of Manpower Exporters (Fame), an organization of recruitment agencies, the new POEA rule is not necessary because it would slow down the hiring process, thus would result to the decreased deployment of OFWs. The FAME also said that POEA created the new rules without seeking the opinion and approval of the manpower agencies. Under the said memorandums, employment contracts of OFWs belonging in the low and semi-skilled category would now have to go through the screening of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) before it will be processed. The work contracts also need to be authenticated by the Philippine Embassy in the host country. The president of Fame, Eduardo Mahiya said The recruitment industry is already over-regulated, strangulating the sector with more rules that are not conducive to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyos thrust to create more jobs abroad. Mahiya added, What is the use of all these marketing missions which the President herself attends if after coming home, we, the direct providers of overseas employment opportunities are prevented from deploying more? Recruitment agencies also complained that the government agency provided no transition period for the implementation of the new rule, thus affecting even job orders that are already for approval. It was formulated without due consultation, and there is not even a transition period to allow the stakeholders to prepare, he explained A recruitment consultant Emmanuel Geslani also said that the POEA memorandums would result in a maze of forms and certifications from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), labor attaches, valid visas/work permits, individual employment contracts. According to Geslani, the additional requirement would discourage foreign recruitment offices to hire OFWs especially in the Middle East. Geslani said, The end result will be a massive drop in deployment starting by the third quarter of 2009." On the other hand, the POEA explained that Memorandum Circular 5 and 6 was imposed with the objective to further protect OFWs from exploitation and abuse. The POEA Chief, Jennifer Manalili said that the 44 overseas jobs added in the June 15 circular are the most exploited. This is the reason why they required POLO verification prior to approval of a job order. The POEA found an ally with the group, Center for Migrant Advocacy (CMA). The executive director of CMA, Ellene Sana said in an e-mail interview by GMANews.Tv, "We should be happy that POEA is concerned with the rights and welfare of our low, semi-skilled workers and wants to protect them from reprocessing," The new POEA rule was also welcomed by another umbrella organization of recruitment agencies, the Philippine Association of Service Exporters, Inc. (Pasei). According to Victor Fernandez, PASEI president, this is "just a one-time difficulty." Fernandez said, "From my point of view, that is the best way to do it."
