SYNOPSIS COMPUTER APPLICATION provides knowledge and skills to students relating to various types of computer systems and its application especially pertaining to hardware and software. This course also exposes students to different packages of software applications for word processor, spreadsheet, project management, presentation and internet. The students will also have opportunity to manipulate and create a variety of techniques and styles to produce documents, spreadsheets, charts and presentations. This course emphasizes on the practical aspects of using computer applications.
LEARNING OUTCOMES Upon completion of this course, students should be able to: 1. write a list of basic computer system which consist of software, hardware and operating systems. 2. produce documents in form of report by choosing appropriate design templates based on word processor software. 3. manage large amounts of data in a table with appropriate operations based on spreadsheet software design templates. 4. 5. 6. create Gantt chart using Gantt chart wizard based on project management software. use internet ethically to search appropriate data for group project. present clearly a report findings based on presentation software design templates.

SUMMARY
(0 LECTURE : 30 PRACTICAL)
RTA 1.0 COMPUTER SYSTEM This topic introduces evolution of computer, parts of computer systems and computer hardware. It also serves to introduce concept of standalone and networked computers in a company. It also covers an introduction part to operating system and file management. WORD PROCESSOR Introduces word processor software. It covers document editing, formatting and additional features supported by this software. SPREADSHEET Introduces the concept of spreadsheets, how to create a new spreadsheet, edit and format an existing spreadsheet using arithmetic operators and built-in spreadsheet functions. It also covers steps to construct charts based on data in spreadsheet. PROJECT MANAGEMENT Exposes students to the introduction of project planning and management using project management software. INTERNET Introduces students to practice communication skills using Internet. It also teaches the student on how to surf Internet. It emphasizes on basic concepts and fundamentals of web page creation using web-development software. The students should be able to design a basic web page and upload it to internet. PRESENTATION AND THE BASICS OF MULTIMEDIA Introduces students to practice presentation skills using presentation software.
