What are the objectives of Lakbay-Aral? The program seeks to provide young Filipinos overseas the opportunity to trace their roots and rediscover their identities as Filipinos. Through experiencing life in the Philippines, the participants are expected to gain a better understanding of the country and its people, and greater awareness and appreciation of their rich Filipino heritage. The experience will hopefully instill and preserve a sense of national pride among the participants, bridge the gap between their native and acquired culture, and serve as catalyst in the participants' search and realization of their Filipino identity. Program Fee: $2,000 per participant, subject to increase without prior notice. The final figure will be known in March 2012, set by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), and pays for the following: A. 2-week 5-star hotel accommodations B. All meals with two (2) “meriendas” C. Learning Materials D. All transportation: land, air, water E. Accident and Medical Insurance II. Airline, Philippine Airlines (PAL): $1,500, could be less WHAT ARE NEEDED: 1. Valid passports: Apply no later than January 2012. Approval takes about six (6) months. 2. Gifts for the orphanage: school supplies, chocolates, candies worth $5.00. 3. One set of formal attire: Barong (men) / Filipiniana (women) IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER: February 1 to 15, 2012 – Submit applications with a $100 deposit payable to “Lakbay-Aral” Program. Not reimbursable but will be deducted from the Program Fee. April 1 to 15, 2012 – Airline Ticket must be paid in full to LBC Travel. Go to the nearest LBC office to pay. Call 1-800-338-5424 during business hours. Let us know if you encounter any problems. May 1 to 5, 2012 – Program Fee should be paid in full. We will call you before May 1, 2012 for the exact amount. We will remit the total amount to CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) on May 6, 2012. July 8, 2012 – Orientation Day. Venue to be announced.

    Each FPACC chapter is cordially requested to contribute one or the other: two (2) young adults, or $1,000.00 to help defray the cost of other young adults 15 years old and above, but not over 30. No parents allowed. Participants are chaperoned.
    The Travel-Study Program Fee, set by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), is $2,000 per participant. The Air Fare is $1,500, subject to change according to the market rate done during the booking.

    TOTAL PARTICIPATION FEE: $3500 (subject to the changes without notice)
