Warner police confirmed Wednesday they are investigating a California woman's claim she also was sexually assaulted as a minor in the 1990s when she and her alleged assailant attended Trinity Baptist Church in Concord. The woman came forward during last week's rape trial of Ernest P. Willis, 52, a former Trinity Baptist Church member convicted of raping his then 15-year-old baby sitter twice in Concord in 1997. The rapes resulted in a pregnancy. Victim Tina Anderson, now 29, testified at the Merrimack County Superior Court trial that Pastor Chuck Phelps forced her to publicly apologize to the congregation for getting pregnant, then helped send her away to live with strangers in Colorado where she had the baby and gave the child up for adoption. Willis was found guilty of three counts of forcible rape and two counts of felonious sexual assault. He is set to be sentenced June 30. While the trial was under way last week, an adult woman disclosed to Concord police she also had been sexually assaulted by a member of Trinity Baptist Church about the same time that Anderson had. Concord police said they forwarded the complaint to Warner because the case involved their jurisdiction. Warner Police Officer Scott Leppard said he spoke briefly with the California woman by telephone. He said he has few details and is waiting for the alleged victim to mail him a statement. When I get her statement, I will know a lot more and go from there, Leppard said. The one big question we have right now is whether it actually happened in Warner, he added.
