Phoenix meets backs each Wednesday here in LINC as usual at 6pm and will be busy working on their rap program. The big news is they have been working collaboratively with UNITE youth over in the other Place and have now formed a joint group which is called UP. This group meets over in the Other Place each Thursday in what is now a youth caf. This means it will be a youth only space. Group members will be trained to run the caf and can purchase food at a discounted price. Activities will also take place in the members room under supervision. The caf will open at 6.30 each Thursday. So spread the word as these young people are our

future!!!!!!!! Well done to them for coming this far in such a short length of time. Watch out for the groups CD which is to be launched very soon

Volunteer Training LINC will be running a volunteer training course starting on Monday the 3rd October for four weeks from 7.30 to 9.30. More details to follow.
The next meeting in scheduled for Tuesday 4th Oct at 7pm. The book for next month is The Help by Kathryn Stockett Synopsis: Set during the nascent civil rights movement in Jackson, Miss., where black women were trusted to raise white children but not to polish the household silver. Eugenia Skeeter Phelan is just home from college in 1962, and, anxious to become a writer, is advised to hone her chops by writing about what disturbs you. The budding social activist begins to collect the stories of the black women on whom the country club sets relies and mistrusts enlisting the help of Aibileen, a maid who's raised 17 children, and Aibileen's best friend Minny, who's found herself unemployed more than a few times after mouthing off to her white employers. The book Skeeter puts together based on their stories is scathing and shocking, bringing pride and hope to the black community, while giving Skeeter the courage to break down her personal boundaries and pursue her dreams. Assured and layered, full of heart and history.

Rory's Story Reaches Over 44K Views

Marriage Equalitys newest short film, Rorys Story which highlights the discrimination against children in same-sex families has received over 44,000 views on YouTube since its release last Wednesday. "We are delighted with the overwhelming levels of support we've seen for Rory's Story," said Moninne Griffith, Director of Marriage Equality. "We made this film to raise awareness about the continued discrimination faced by lesbian and gay couples and their children despite recent civil partnership legislation, and our film seems to have struck a chord with many people all over the world." Rory's Story echoes findings from Marriage Equality's 2010 report Voices of Children, in which researchers spoke to children of lesbian couples about their everyday lives.
