C. WILLIAMBRCMNFIELD PLAQUEFACTS
PURPOSE:
The Brownfield Plaque is being dedicated in memory of C. William Brownfield to re cognize the tr emendo us impact he made on the Jaycee orgnization as author of the Jaycee Creed which is still a lasting inspiration to Jaycees around the world. In 1946, after attending his first national convention of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Milwaukee, Wis consin, Bill Brownfield was so inspired that he wanted to put his feelings into words. In 1947, those words were unanimously adopted as the Jaycee Creed.
HISTORY:
INVOLVEMENT:Although C. William Brownfield is most famous for authoring the Jaycee Creed, he also served as president of the Ohio Jaycees and went on to serve The U.S. Jaycees as a national vice president. Because of the inspira tion he provided, Brownf ield was recognized in 1955 as an honorary member of The United States Junior Chamber of Commerce, and in 1965, became one of only 4 men to ever be named as an honor ary pr esident of The U. S. Jaycees.

PROTECTION
ACT
(H R 911)
There is a growing concern among volunteers in America. Increasingly they are avoiding service in all forms of non-profit organizations. According to results from a national survey, the effect of liability concerns is beginning to have an adverse impact on the ability of non-profit groups to recruit
volunteers who run so many critical programs. Your help is needed to end this situation. The Volunteer Protection Act provides a sensible solution to this problem. With your help, HR911 will encourage all states to enact laws to grant limited immunity to individual volunteers.
BICENTENNIAL
OF
THE
U. S.
The V.S. Constitution is the oldest written instrument of national government in the world. It is the cornerstone of American democracy, the document which symbolizes our national ideals of freedom, justice, equality and hope. The American Revolution gave us freedom; the Constitution gave us the means to keep it, establishing a government of the people, by the people and for the people. By celebrating the 200th anniversary of our Constitution, we have an opportunity
to learn about our unique system of government while paying tribute to its origins. As V.S. citizens it is our responsibility to reaffirm the principles for which the Constitution and this country stand, those rights and liberties which we tend to take for granted: freedom of expression, freedom of worship, freedom of choice, the right to vote, the right to associate with whomever we please. Accept this responsibility by taking part in this celebration.
