August 2011 Dear Friend, Greetings to you from everyone at the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church in Torrington, CT. The Lord is moving by His Spirit in the church. Its exciting to be a part of His kingdom in this day we live! Jesus said, In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33). There are a lot of things happening in the world but we were told to set our hearts and minds on Him because He has overcome the world! There may be things going on in your life that make you anxious or nervous, yet He still said, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. With Christ Jesus in you, you are not alone and you are not a failure or defeated. He overcame the world and all the pitfalls on our behalf. We can stand with confidence, knowing that the Bible says, If God be for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31). All throughout the Bible God took the time and effort to assure us that He would be with us if we serve Him with all our hearts. Jesus told His disciples, and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:20). The Scripture says in Hebrews 13:5, Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. That sounds great because there are times we feel alone, but were not! He is still with us. Even when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we need not fear any evil. Why? Because He is with us! He doesnt high-tail it out of Dodge when trouble comes into town. It is this strength of character that the Lord possesses that keeps us in times of discouragement and distress. His still small voice whispers in our hearts to keep on going, keep on looking up, and keep on reaching for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. You may have lost a lot of things along the way but dont ever cast away your faith in God! He will bring you through every storm and every trial! There is a beautiful Christian lady that comes to church. She recently had a baby and is on maternity leave from work. She came to church the other night nervous and anxious because she will have to go back to work soon and her job can be stressful at times. She was concerned about juggling her schedule to care for the baby, her family, her job, and several other things going on in her life. But in church the other night another person got up and testified of a great victory they received recently from God: a miracle in their family. It had been a long hard trial but the Lord intervened. This lady got so encouraged by the other persons testimony that she came to the altar at the end of service and received prayer and completely released her anxiety and fears and tension. The Lord lifted that off her life and she told me she was completely at peace. She knows everything is going to work out because Jesus will help her and give her the strength she needs! Many people are told not to bother God too much for their own

needs. Theyre told He is too busy to care for everyone. Besides, He only helps those who help themselves. Do you know how ridiculous that reasoning is? If God only helps those who help themselves Hes not much of a God! That would make us our own God! No, if there are situations you cannot control and circumstances that have come your way that are just too big for you, when you call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ He will help you. He will save you from those overwhelming dilemmas and give you peace that passes all understanding! He said, Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not (Jeremiah 33:4). Another verse says, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13). If He tells us to call upon His name why do we feel like we cant call? Why should we think that God is too busy to hear us in the day of trouble? Why do we think we have to fix everything we cant control? I am learning that there are things I can do, but there are things that only God Himself can do, so I quit trying to do those things! Oh what a relief to know I am not God, but God is God and He is wellable to do what He does! And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness (II Corinthians 12:9). Are you troubled today? Do thoughts and fears and perplexities seem to occupy your mind day and night? Are you being tossed and driven by the restless sea of life? Let me encourage you to call upon the name of the Lord. He will hear your prayer. He is a very present help in time of trouble. When we ask Him for His will to be done He gladly comes to aide us and help us. I have found over and over again that what He determines for me is always better than what I think I need. He does supply our every need. Trust Him, believe Him, and obey His Word and you, too, will find His peace that passes all understanding! May God bless you always, and remember that our church is praying for you!
