TODAY is Home Mission Sunday - the 1st anniversary of Pope Benedicts visit to our country. There is a special collection for the Home Missions. The 9.30am Mass is a Childrens Mass and all are welcome to Tea & Coffee in the Hall afterwards. NEW TRANSLATION: The new Mass responses are printed on the reverse of the bulletin. BAPTISM: We welcome into the family of the Church Isaac Luciano Beggiora at 12noon today. PARISH AGM: Thanks to all who attended last Sunday. Mary Wren Hilton was appointed as chairman of the Parish Council and Rosemary Page as secretary. The appointment of Stephen Moore as treasurer was confirmed. Many thanks to them. BURKINA FASO: A sincere thank you to all who supported the Hot Pot supper and social in the Hall last weekend when we had over 100 people to welcome Sisters Michaela and Maria and to present an initial cheque for 4,127.82 which together with funds from the charity giving website and gift aid will result in a total raised of 5,052. Additionally the social, raffle and bar produced an amazing 540 with a further 209 received in donations and sponsorship taking the total raised to 5,801 Thank you again to all who have donated so generously and to our cyclists for their wonderful initiative. CELEBRATING CREATION: The Diocesan Faith and Justice Commission are organising various events this year. Please see the posters in the porch. One of the events is on our doorstep - a guided walk from the RSPB Ribble Discovery Centre, Fairhaven nd Lake, on Sun 2 Oct, starting at 12.30pm. A great opportunity to learn more and welcome others to our lovely area. CAFOD: Harvest Fast Day is coming soon (Oct 9 ) which provides income for ongoing long-term development in 60 countries. We are also very conscious of the situation in East Africa. Next Sunday, Margaret Long will speak at the end of the Masses about CAFOD and our need for someone to be the representative for the parish. She will also speak about the nd LiveSimply weekend on 2 Oct here (near to the feast of St. Francis of Assisi). DAY OF PRAYER at St. John Vianneys, Blackpool, on Sat 1 Oct. The day begins at 10am and will be led by a priest of the Blessed Sacrament Congregation. Please see poster.
