HERSHEY FOODS OPTIMIZES APPLICATION
DELIVERY FOR PROBLEM-FREE SAP UPGRADE
When Hershey Foods Corporation set about the task of
upgrading its enterprise SAP system, the company’s
IT teams needed to verify that functionality, including
150 touchpoints with 35 integrated applications,
would be consistent with earlier versions. Hershey
selected Mercury Interactive application delivery solu-
tions to develop a rigorous testing strategy enabling
developers, project managers, and business analysts
to detect, track, and eliminate problems before going
live with the SAP upgrade. With the help of Mercury
products, the project team found and corrected
approximately 2,400 defects before the SAP upgrade
went live. Mercury’s global test management capabili-
ties enabled multiple teams to participate in testing
from various locations in the United States and
Canada. Hershey established a new testing infrastruc-
ture—based on TestDirector—that will eventually
support all future SAP and non-SAP projects.Mercury’s
performance delivery solution enabled the IT team to
stress test application servers at 2.5 times the normal
load and establish that the architecture was sufficient
for the upgraded environment.
