Why i want to join the Civil Service. India is a democracy.

The sovereignity of the people is guranteed by the Constit ution.The Government exists to gurantee this.The Indian Civil Service is the bas e upon which the Government functions.Every building is built upon bricks and RC C Blocks, held firmly in place around an iron and steel girder framework. The ab ove has led to the nomenculature "Steel Frame" given to the public services.Iron is prone to rusting if not maintained well.The same is seen in the Steel Frame where Corruption and Nepotism are weakening the joints and links. The Lokayukta has been constituted to detect and notify such damage. Hovewer the power to repair is unfortunately not given. Edmund Burke has declared The only way for Evil to succeed is when good people do nothing". The world is seeing the marathon of peole running after money, wealth and jobs in a desperate attempt t o make the ends meet.The policies and programmes of many governments are based u pon the satisfaction of a few, instead of many. It is this which keeps the rat r ace running. Politics is seen as a Business where everyone desires to get more t han 51 percent share enabling more profit than investment. Wonderful are the fetters of desire. The enshackled ones keep running while the free ones, remain, where they are. Money alone motivates such movement, as it is the bridge enabling one to acquire what one wants. Wants are infinite,as when o ne is satisfied another arises.The Government has a monumental task to keep the office bearers away from the corrupting powers of greed and money. Like the trinity, the IAS ,IPS and the IFS,are given prominence amongst the fift y plus odd services.The Indian Administrative Service officers reprsent the visi ble face of the Government. unfortunately this face has pockmarks and pimples,fr om a few lazy, greedy and evil officers, who have led to the Bureaucracy being a bloated machine functioning only when lubricated by money oil and bribe grease. The Indian Police Service unfortunately is tarred with the same brush, but unlik e IAS Officers, IPS Officers are armed. On paper the pen is superior, but the sw ord can cut through both.The Indian Forest Service is entrusted with the conserv ation and development of the forests the true wealth of india. the IFS is tarnis hed as many IFS Officers are becoming the fence that eats the crops. Loyalty is ceasing to be the currency of the realm. The posts of Corporate Sector administrators managers and executive office beare rs, are highly coveted.Every one desires to be one amongst them and hope to draw the obscene amount of salaries that they have heard of.Hovewer no one is intere sted in politics. If there is interest it is for pure monetary greed, and not fo r national development. Every one despises politicians, pass the buck, declame t he state of affairs turning into a filth clogged drain. Yet no one is willing to take the initiative to clean up the mess. I want to join the Civil Service, as it is better to take the initiative and com mence clean up, instead of mere lip service assuring the same. It is true that a complete clean up is not possible individually, hovewer the effort sets a examp le for other like minded people desirous for national development. Edmund Hillar y was asked why he climbed Mount Everest. His answer was simple- " Because it is there ". The above task is similar like a expedition to Mount Everest, but Edmu nd Hillary has proved that it can be achieved. God helps those who do their duty and guides them to succes. Slowly but surely t he numbers of honest and noble Civil Servants will rise, as the example they set is like a oasis in a desert, and a island in a sea. They will blaze forth like pioneers, holding the light of truth,as they guide the people across the dark an d murky world, the path being illuminated by the light. The goal at the end of t he road is the development of the nation.

Soon by their efforts India will regain the lost honour, recover the plundered w ealth and bring back the glory that we have heard of, and finally India will bec ome the land where Golden Birds sing.
