"Details make difference, details make all the difference" this is a sentence that can be found on the lyrics

of "Na frente do reto", music recorded by O Rappa, a famous Brazilian band which is known for its social critical songs. This is not the main point of this post however details that we normally forget to keep our attention on what we consider to be big things can take us to the edge. A detail project very often is more accurate and more well executed than those that undergone superficial analysis. A relationship can be kept away from fights if conversation gets into the more profound details instead of opposite accusations made, and problems can be easily solved when our focus is dedicated to work on root causes solutions. Im persistent to find the reason to explain why Brazilian professionals commonly act impulsively according to the self willing instead of spending time on planning, going deeper on issues that really matters and brings more sustainable results to the organizations. There might be an explanation. In the year of 2008 I had the chance to visit Germany for a summer fifteen days cultural exchange. The main purpose of this event, which took place in a city called Schmalkalden, is to give the chance to Brazilian students to understand how the European Union was formed and to discuss the differences between the two countries cultures. Obviously many questions and curiosities showed up and some of them regarded second Great War, but one in special called my attention. It was made for a colleague from a study group and had great impact to a German teacher. - Professor, why we Brazilians are one of most creative and consequently intelligent people in the world but we can't develop our country and have a better quality of life? That question hit me hard for it was simple but at the same time I had no idea how to answer, although it was not made to me I tried among my thoughts and situations already experienced find such reason. This German teacher, who I prefer to keep his name, was a very intelligent and graduated being. He took a little time; nodded his head, and calmly said: - Details!!! What??? That is the first word that comes to my mind. The next is how come he can answer a question just like that? Of course I asked him to comment about the subject. In a very formal way he explained that for historical reasons and it includes wars the German people had experimented the worst of humanity but most important have learned. Some other countries such as Japan and USA have also in their history some similar situations. The process that follows a period where so much is lost is frequently dedicated to rebuild everything on the contrary was lived before, and to reach this point everything has to be planned. Thus, to pay attention on details aiming to avoid same past errors begins to be a natural thing and an intrinsic part of people's behavior. Brazil, however, has never come to a breakdown structure event, and because of it more time is needed to the population to assimilate such way of life.

Since that episode in Germany I try to be more specific, always paying attention to small facts, even though a situation seems to be simple I look into it with a different look, with a detailed point of view. Cheers!!!
