CULTURE DAYS CELEBRATES NIAGARAS RAGTIME LEGACY

Step Back ... Think Forward ... An Activity Not To Be Missed! Ennio A. Paola, is no stranger to the ragtime genre of music. His featured opus' include " Hawkins' Hill Rag" ; recognized as the last published Ragtime work of Canada's Ragtime Revival Period (1960's-1980). Katrina Pyke, Coordinator, Museum Operations,City of Pickering September 20, 2011 As part of this years 2nd Annual, Canada-wide Culture Days celebrations, Welland raised Ennio Paola presents Sharing A Significant Music: Rag TImes and Eclectic Related Music on Sunday, October 2/11 at the Water Falls, Niagara Falls City Hall. Inspired by Pan-American / Pan-Canadian Ragtime signature pieces, Sharing A Significant Music gives an overview of original strains; alongside extraordinary works dating from the Ragtime Era (18971917) to related pieces and musical genres developed in the 40s, 50s and 60s. This free event invites the public to learn about Niagaras Ragtime past; while exploring rhythmic elements that form the basis Ragged Time. About Culture Days Culture Days (culturedays.ca) is a collaborative pan-Canadian volunteer movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. Culture Days was initiated by four Founding Partners: The Canadian Arts Summit, Culture pour tous (producer of les Journes de la culture), Canada Council for the Arts and The Banff Centre. To date provincial partners include Government of Alberta, SaskCulture, Manitoba Homecoming, Government of Manitoba, Ontario Arts Council, Government of Prince Edward Island and the Government of Northwest Territories.
