Market Review Market Indices

Rs.(mn) 4000 3500 3000 2500 2000 1500 1000 500 0 Downward trend in the bourse continued amidst selling pressure in blue chip companies led by JKH and SLT. Most investors remained bearish during the day with weak participation in market acitivity. All Share Price Index declined by 0.62% to close at 6828.57 while the liquid Milanka Price Index declined by 0.64% to end the day at 6169.22. Volumes decreased by 23.5% to 118m, whilst turnover increased by 0.4% to Rs.1.8Bn. The gainers list was led by Asian Alliance and Singalanka while Amf Co Ltd and Eastern Merchant led the Losers. Asian Alliance topped the turnover list with Rs.236m to the day's turnover whilst S M B Leasing dominated the volume list with 18m shares. A total of Rs.40m net FII outflow was witnessed for the day.
