PACKAGING SPECIALISTS
Responsible for handling raw material through the flm production
process. This position requires the desire to work in a team environment.
Applicants must be available to work a rotating 12-hour shift. Our
employees normally do not work more than 3 consecutive days and
receive every other weekend off.
LINE OPERATOR
Responsible for the technical operations, packaging and quality of the
products produced on their line. This position requires basic math skills
and the desire to work in a team environment with previous plastics
experience preferred. Applicants must be available to work a rotating
12-hour shift. Our employees normally do not work more than three
consecutive days and receive every other weekend off.
MAINTENANCE OPERATOR
This position requires an Associates Degree in Industrial Maintenance
or a similar feld. Applicants need to have a working knowledge of
mechanical, electrical and pneumatics and be skilled with various hand
tools. They must possess the ability to correctly diagnose failures and
perform troubleshooting duties. Applicants must also be able to lift a
minimum of 80 pounds. Pay starts at $14-$15/hour.
MANAGEMENT TRAINEE
Responsible for the completion of an intense management training
program to prepare for management positions throughout the company.
The ideal candidates will have a manufacturing related college degree/
business degree (or equivalent).

dotoreallylandtheinterview?Thedaysofwalkingintoacompanyand
justtalkingtosomeoneareaboutover.Morethanever,peoplehaveto
facethecoldhardfactthatcompaniesareseriouslyutilizingon-linejob
applicationandtrackingsystemsthatyouhavetogetthroughfrst.
Now that youve made it through the screening process, the phone
screen, the potential second phone screen, its now time for the big
moment of the face to face interview. So what are some of the things
thatyoucandoinordertoreallystandoutandknockthatinterviewout
oftheballpark?
IveputtogethermyTop10listofwhattodoandwhatnottododuringthe
interviewprocess:
1. DO your research. After prepping 100s if not 1,000s of candidate
over the past decade to go on interviews, I know that the biggest turn
offofahiringmanageriswhenthepotentialemployeehasnoideaabout
the history of the company, or even what they are interview for with
the company. A huge amount of information can be found by a simple
Google search. Some other areas you might check out are: Linkedin.
com, the Chamber of Commerce website, Better Business Bureau
website, Facebook.com dont make the mistake of thinking companys
dont have a Facebook page. Of course the standard, and a MUST, is to
makesureyoucheckoutthecompanywebsite.Takeitfromarecruiterif
youdontdoyourresearch,dontevenbothertoshowuptotheinterview.

2. DONTassumethatthefrstimpressionismadewhenyoushakethe
hand of the hiring manager and sit down in their offce. No, my friend,
it starts when you pull in the parking lot. Dressing in the parking lot -
NO. Empty beer cans falling out of the car in the parking lot - NO. The
receptionistisjustanhourlyemployeeWAYBIGNONO.Manyhiring
managers will gauge interaction with the frst person the interviewee
meetsinthecompanyandweighthatintheirdecision.So,thelongand
short,justbecauseyouareinterviewfora$50Kayearjob,dontassume
thereceptionistdoesntmatter.

3. DOmakesureyouhaveatleasttwocopiesofyourresumewithyou.
Hasyourprintereverrunoutofinkatthelastminute?Everhaveapower
outageattheoffce?Wellsohavemanyhiringmanagers.Theworstthing
intheworldistobereadytotellthehiringmanagerhowyouareprepared
tohandleanythingthejobwillthrowatyou,andthentheyaskforacopy
of your resume because they are out of ink and didnt have time to get
it printed, and you dont have a copy. To be honest, I am guilty of using
thattrickafewtimes,especiallyforkeypositionsthatIamrecruitingfor
aclient.

4. DONT spend the frst 10 minutes of the interview talking about the
hiringmanagersphotosontheirdeskandwhatallyouhaveincommon
andthenthinkitwasagreatinterview.Thepurposeoftheinterviewiffor
you to learn about the job and the company and the company to see if
youareamatchforthem.Justbecauseyouandthehiringmanagerboth
havebeentrainedinunderwaterbasketweavingdoesntmeanthatyou
aregoingtobegoodforthejob,orthatyouareagoingtolandthejoboff
ofthatfact.Skillsareskillsbutthehiringmanagerispaidtomakesure
theyhirethepersonwiththebestskillmatchforwhatthecompanyneeds
fortheposition.

5. DOtakethetimetofllouttherequiredpaperwork.Allcompanieshave
differenthiringrequirements.Justbecauseyouveflledoutanapplication
on-linedoesntmeanthattheyhaveallofyourinformation.Remember,to
thoroughandcomplete.Sometimesthiscanbereviewedtoseeifyoucan
followinstructionsandhowcloseyoupayattentiontodetails.

6. DONT show up at the interview without questions to ask during


the summation part of the interview. If you are using a recruiting or
agency,theyshouldbeassistingwiththispart.Outofthe100sofhiring
managers I speak with on a consistent basis, the biggest erk is when
they ask if there are any questions and the interviewees respond, No,
or Youve answered all the questions I had prepared. Wow that just
demonstratedsomeseriouspreparationdidntit?

7. DOnotbeafraidtoaskforthejob.Toomanyintervieweesleavethe
process,andmoreimportantlythehiringmanager,withoutasensethat
they want the job. At the end of the interview, good eye contact, a frm
hand shake and a simple statement that expresses your interest in the
positioncouldjustlandyouthatposition.

8. DO NOTleavewithoutthehiringmanagerscontactinformation.The
secondpartoftheDONOTinthisoneisDONOTcallthehiringmanager
everydaytocheckinwiththemabouttheposition.Ifstep7isdone,you
willknowwhentofollowup.Beingapestdoesntshowpersistencesbut
doesshowthatyoucanbeannoying!

9. DO make sure you check with the person that is setting up the
interview about the appropriate dress for the interview. A manual labor
positionmaybeokwithanicepairofslacksandashirt/blouse,however
alawfrmwouldrequireafullblownbusinesssuit.Makesureyouknow
yourenvironment.

10. DO NOTmakethemistakeofnothavingathankyouletterprepared
the night before. If you have done your homework, this should be just
a very simple letter of thanks to the hiring manager. Once you get to
yourcar,andhavethehiringmanagerscontactinformation,writeinthe
addressandname,andfndapostoffceASAP.Thelettershowingupthe
nextdayisonemorewaytogetyournameinfrontofthehiringmanager.
Emailswillwork,ifrequestedbythehiringmanager;howeveranice,old
fashionletterissomethingthattheycanholdintheirhand.
Remember, these are just a few tips that might help you land your next
