Photo 1a 1. Platinum Series Coil Over Installation Guide. a. Remove sway bar links from axle, and clamps from the frame using 15mm socket. Remove sway bar and lay to the side. (See Photo #1a). b. Remove drag link from pitman arm using 21mm socket. c. Remove cotter pin from passenger side tie rod. Using 21mm socket remove nut from tie rod end. Removing the tie rod from passenger side will allow access to track bar bolt. d. Remove cotter pin from track bar bolt on passenger side axle. Photo 1f Using 18mm and 21 mm socket, remove the track bar bolt and reinstall tie rod end. e. Remove bottom nuts from shock using 21mm and 19mm socket. The top nuts can be reached from under the hood. It may be necessary to remove air intake hose to gain access to upper shock mount on driver side. f. Remove upper shock tower ring bolts using 15mm socket. (See
Photo #1f).

g. Connect a ratchet strap from pass side of axle to driver side of frame. This will assure that axle does not move side to side. h. Disconnect the bracket on the driver and passenger side frame rails that holds the brake line. This bracket will be removed using a 13mm wrench. i. Jack up the front of vehicle from frame rails while supporting the front axle with jack stands. j. Loosen upper and lower control arms using 21mm, 18mm, and 15mm I-SKDGEB1 10-02 Photo 1L Pg 1

wrenches. k. Remove front tires and lower down front axle. (See Photo #1L). l. Remove factory coil spring and inside tower ring. m. Install new upper coil over mount to factory coil tower using new tower ring. Install with 3 7/16" x 1 1/2" bolts supplied. Be sure to use one 1/4" inch spacer between tower ring and upper coil cup. There should be 1 spacer per bolt. (See photo #1m) Photo 1m n. With bracket installed, use a 1/2" inch punch to mark the other 3 bolts that need to be drilled. Remove the new brackets and drill holes to 7/16. (See photo #1n) o. With holes drilled reinstall brackets with all 6 bolts. Be sure to use 1 spacer per bolt. All bolts will come from the top. The only exception is the outer most bolt closest to the wheel. It will come in from the bottom of the coil tower. Torque all 6 bolts to 58ft. lbs. (See
photo #1o)

p. Install new Platinum Series coil over using 2 spacers for the top installation. Top will install with one spacer on each side of shock and the 5/8 x 3 bolt, washer, and nut supplied. Torque to 180 ft. lbs (See
photo #1p)

q. Bottom of coil over shock will mount to factory shock location using 9/16 x 3 1/2" fine thread bolt, washer, and nut supplied. Torque to 129 ft lbs. It may be necessary to raise axle to line up bolt. (See photo #1q and 1r) r. At this time refer back to kit instructions to finish the rest of kit installation. Photo 1o

Platinum Series Coil Over Assembly

-Each Platinum Series coil over assembly will require assembly prior to installation. The final settings will have to be made when installation occurs. The final adjustment will differ depending on engine size, winch, bumper, accesories, etc. -Both coil over assemblies should be adjusted to the same length prior to installation. It is VERY IMPORTANT that prior to installation the coil does not have any slack between the mounting cups. At no time during axle travel should the coil lose contact with the upper and lower spring seats! -When final adjustments are made the setscrew should be tightened. At no time should the coil over assembly be installed without the set screw being tight! -Do not adjust Coil Over assembly outside of lift height specifications. This will result in limiting the shock travel causing possible damage to the shock and other components.
1. Photo #1 shows the shock the way it will be received in the box. 2. Install coil onto shock and slide up. Install lower spring seat on to shock. 3. With lower spring seat installed, stand shock up straight. Loosen the set screw on the upper spring seat. Adjust upper seat down by hand. The upper seat should be tightened onto the coil by hand. Tighten the upper seat by hand as much as possible. Make sure the coil sits flush with the upper and lower spring seat. The coil seat should never be loosened beyond this point! 4. Install the Platinum Series Coil Over assembly into the vehicle. Let the weight down on vehicle. Measure the gained lift height. It will now be necessary to adjust the upper coil seat to gain desired lift height. Raise the vehicle so that there is no load on the coil. Adjust the upper seat using a spanner wrench to gain desired lift height. Adjust both driver and passenger side coils to the same height. Let the weight back down on the spring to check the lift height. Repeat this process until accurate lift height is gained. 5. Once adjustment is done, tighten the set screw on the upper seat. Tighten the screw gradually so the upper spring seat does not move. Be careful not to overtighten the set screw. Not tightening the set screw may allow the coil to become loose causing possible damage to the shock and other components. This could result in possible injury or death.
