The manufacturer of Brahim's products, Dewina Food Industries Sdn Bhd (DFI) was founded in 1986 by it's Managing Director, Datuk Haji Ibrahim bin Haji Ahmad Badawi, a former university lecturer and specialist in food and agricultural consultancy and research, together with Mr. Tatsunobu Abe, a Japanese Entrepreneur. In its initial years of operation, DFI was better known as a supplier of military rations to regional armies and the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces, due primarily to the unique features of its retort pouch products. Brahim's gradually gained steady commercial market presence and strong brand awareness within Malaysian and regional markets. Production capacity was increased to meet growing demands. The Founder Datuk Ibrahim Hj Ahmad Badawi is the founder and now the Executive Chairman of Dewina Holdings Sdn Bhd. He holds a Masters degree in Food Technology (1974) and a Diploma in Agriculture (1969).

A former lecturer and a founding member of the Faculty of Food Science and Biotechnology, University Putra Malaysia and subsequently the Head of Corporate R & D at a public company, Datuk Ibrahim has wide experience in food and agro-based industries and had been involved in various professional organizations holding posts such as National Representative to the UNESCO Regional Network for Basic Sciences (19781980), Secretary-General of Asean Federation of Food Processing Industries (19831

1984), Member, International Standards Committee SIRIM (1983-1985), Council Member of Malaysian Microbiological Society (1978-1980) and Malaysian Institute of Food Technology (1980-1983), besides sitting on various state and federal advisory bodies. Datuk Ibrahim founded Dewina Food Industries in 1986 and has since been honoured with the 'Anugerah Usahawan' (Entrepreneurship Award) in 1993 and with a Datukship in October 2002. Subsidiaries & Associates DEWINA HOLDINGS SDN BHD is an investment holding and management company founded by Datuk Hj Ibrahim Hj Ahmad Badawi, the Group Executive Chairman who is also a specialist in food and agricultural consultancy. _ Using imported state-of-the-art high technology in its food production system, Dewina Food became the first company in South-East Asia to adopt the food packing and processing technique developed in the US and Japan known as retort pouch process. Apart from being the manufacturer of "Brahim's", Malaysia's household name for shelf stable retort pouched convenience foods, Dewina Food is also one of the leading

manufacturers and suppliers of military rations in the region. Dewina became a public company in 1995, on strength of Dewina Food Industries performance and then diversified into various areas of food services and catering. The group subsequently developed strategic partnerships with global leaders in industrial and institutional catering, food services and flight catering and currently serves more than 100,000 meals a day through its industrial catering businesses and employs more than 2500 workers Food Manufacturing DEWINA FOOD INDUSTRIES is situated in Bangi, Malaysia's prime and strategically located zone with comprehensive infrastructural facilities and easy access to the nation's capital, financial centres and international port and airports. Officially opened in 1988, the facility boasts state-of-the art high-technology machinery and equipment for food production. Dewina's production line features a computer-based user-dedicated system custom designed to suit its requirements, coupled with a fully mechanised and modern packaging plant.

Dewina food manufacturing employs over 180 dedicated and experienced employees from various techinal business disciplines, including food science and technology, engineering, marketing, administration, finance and military supplies logistics who are constantly trained and kept up-to-date with the latest developments in the industry. With a pro-active and enterprising management team as well as advanced and versatile production facilities, combined with extensive R & D and a customer-driven product development programme, Dewina has carved out a strong niche in the convenience food industry locally and overseas and is now one of the world's completely "Halal" military rations suppliers. Marketing & Distribution DEWINA TRADING SDN BHD is the marketing and distribution arm of the Group. Staffed with experienced personnel who have both local and export experience, the company coordinates the distribution of Dewina's products locally and through appointed agents overseas. Dewina Trading also handles all enquiries on contract manufacturing _ and packing. Industrial/Institutional Catering & Facilities Management DESASISWA SDN BHD has a franchise to manage the entire F & B requirements at University Putra Malaysia, a modern multidisciplinary campus with 23,000 students on and off-campus and 6000 staff. The needs of both students and staff are serviced through 6 dining halls, 1 food court and several specialty outlets that offer _ 4

both local and international fare. DESATERA SDN BHD, a joint venture between Dewina and Armed Forces Coorperative won the right to operate a total of 68 military cookhouses through a privatization exercise by the Malaysian government. The contract was initially awarded in 1999 for 5 military cookhouses as a pilot project. On full completion of the exercise, 750 Desatera employees will be operating from 68 locations to feed 25,000 military personnel 3 meals and 2 light meals a day. Food Services (Airport) DEWINA HOST SDN BHD is a joint venture company with Host Marriot, the leading F & B operator at major airports around the world. The company operates franchised and non-franchised outlets and a local cafeteria. Over 240 trained personnel operate the various outlets, some open for 24-hours. Dewina Host and its 100% subsidiary Ruby Terrace, are the leading F & B operator at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Inflight Catering BRAHIM'S LSG SKYCHEFS HOLDINGS SDN BHD; Brahim's International Franchise Snd Bhd entered into a joint venture with LSG Sky Chefs, the catering arm of Lufhansa. LSG Sky Chefs is tagged the world's largest in-flight caterer serving more than a million airline meals a day. The JV Company progressed to acquire the majority stake of 70% in Malaysian Airline Flight Kitchen. _ The flight kitchen, situated on 28 acres of land houses a 3-storey building with a built up area of 630,000 sq ft. Employing over 1700 staff, the facility prepares around 35,000 meals a day for 30 airlines operating from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. A second kitchen of reduced size operates from the Penang International Airport. R & D And Consultancy DEWINA CONSULT SDN BHD was established in 2004 to provide consultancy and project management services in the areas of agriculture, food, agro-industries and biotechnology.

Our team of consultants comprises individuals with more than 20 years of experience in their respective fields. We provide services required from conception to operations, including feasibility studies, business plans, authority approvals, plant design & engineering and commissioning. We also provide training on food handling management and food hygiene including HACCP and ISO accreditation.

Principal Profiles :Datuk Ibrahim Hj Ahmad Badawi, DMSM, Dip Agr, MSc More than 30 years experience in food and agriculture, Datuk Ibrahim is a lecturer-turn-entrepreneur who started his own food manufacturing company and brought it to IPO. Besides a vast experience in manufacturing, Datuk Ibrahim has extensive experience in the food services industry. Datin Dr. Hiryati Abdullah, Ph.D. Datin Dr. Hiryati has over 30 years of experience in the field of agriculture. Datin Hiryati was an Associate Professor in plant protection at University Putra Malaysia. She taught and did extensive research in phytobacteriology and phytopathology. Dr. Lim Yor Hang, Ph.D. Dr. Lim has more than 20 years of experience in the food, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology industries in Australia and Malaysia. He has held various positions in industries, including General Manager of Kailis & France Foods in Western Australia and Technical Manager of Sigma Pharmaceuticals in Victoria, Australia. Dr. Che Abdullah Abu Bakar, Ph.D. Dr Abdullah has more than 20 years of experience in the food and meat processing industries. He was a lecturer at the Faculty of Food Science and Biotechnology at University Putra Malaysia. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Majuikan Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary company of Malaysian Fishery Development Board. Dr. Abdullah is a professional member of the Malaysian Institute of Food Technology. My Pang Ching, MSc (Mech Eng), MBA My pang has 35 years of experience in the food processing industry, specializing in fruit processing. He also has extensive experience in fruit plantation and management and agroindustries in general. Dr. Robin Wahab, Ph.D. Dr. Robin has 25 years of experience in food and agriculture research and training; consultancy/audit services in Halal and Food Safety to industries in the Government. He is a member of ASEAN Food Handling Technical Subcommittee and SIRIM Tech Committee on Halal, Grain and Horticulture. Achievements Brahim's production plant was the first in South-East Asia to adopt the retort pouch sterilisation and packaging technique. Its first batch of retort pouch products were officially rolled out and launched in July 1988 as the first product of its kind of both Malaysia and the regional market.

Brahim's has much to be proud of since its inception, having acquired an impressive list of accreditation and awards. Its production plant was awarded the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System 6

Certification in 1994. In addition, all Brahim's products are certified halal by the Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM), complete with the Veterinary Health Mark from the Department of Veterinary Services, Ministry of Agriculture Malaysia.
