PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Renovate existing 3-room (~2250 sf) class room building to
include:
• Electrical fixtures and lighting, including LAN drops.
• Paint interior and exterior, including spot wall repair
• Replace roof with new corrugated tin roof or tile, including gutters and possibly
new cross members
• Renovate/repair flooring and install tile or equivalent
• Install mosquito screening at all open vents/windows
• Install new suspended ceiling
• Install elevated, aboveground water tank to allow water pressure to toilets and
sinks
• Include 40 new desks per classroom and blackboards / white boards (minimum 2
per classroom)
• Include lockable closet in each building and supply with O&M materials for each
project (window screens, door and window hardware, three gallons paint each
color for touch up, roofing tile, ceramic tile, etc)
• Small brass plaque for USACE/US Embassy identification

Project will also include renovation of an existing latrines (two toilets, new fixtures, tile,
ceiling, lighting, plumbing) with new latrines connected into a new septic system and
drain field. Sinks for hand washing will be installed adjacent to the renovated and new
latrines.

ELEVATION:

SITE DESCRIPTION: School is located in the small village of Batulubang and has a
population of 155 students and teachers. Existing facility includes seven class rooms in
two school buildings, one of which was renovated recently and office facilities. Existing
toilets (3) are located in the recently renovated classroom building, are flushed using a
water bucket and small water tank (mende) in bathroom, and are generally in good
condition, although with poorly functioning septic systems. Adequate water is provided
to the school from a small well, and electric power (450 watts) is available at the site.
Access to site is fair, with boat landings accommodated by a concrete pier.
