All About Matter Properties / Characteristic of Matter

RHODORA N. ZAMORA TEACHER BALOGO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BALOGO BINMALEY PANGASINAN

There are so many things around you. They come in different sizes, forms, shapes, and weight. There are some things you cannot see, but you can hear and feel them. All these things is called Matter. As you go along with this module you will find out this consists of 4 activities. The 1st activity is all about what is Matter and its Molecules; The 2nd Activity what are the properties and characteristics of solids; and on the 3rd Activity the characteristic and properties of liquids; and on its 4th activity the properties and characteristics of gas. Matter is everywhere. You can enjoy life better because of Matter. Look around you and find what are matter inside and outside your classroom?

Is matter everywhere? What do we mean by matter?

What you are Expected to Learn? As you go along with this module, you will be able to! Learn about matter and its molecule Identify the states of matter. Properties/Characteristic of matter.

How long Can You Finish this Learning Activity This module can be taken 120 minutes

Read to know more: What is Matter? If you will recall, Matter is anything that occupies space and has weight. Matter is made up of tiny particles/molecules. A gain of salt is made up of tiny particles of salt. A drop of water is made up of tiny particles of water. The air you breathe is made up of tiny particles of gases. The tiny particles that make up matter are arranged differently is solids, liquids and gases. These tiny particles/molecules also behave differently. In Solids, the particles are close to one another so they can only move in one place.

In Liquids, the particles are far apart. The slide past one another. This is what makes liquids flow.

In Gases, the particles are farther apart than in liquids. This in what makes gases spread out.

Remembering Science Facts: Matter is made up of tiny particles.

Activity I Draw the molecules of the thru states of matter:

What You Need To Know Now

There are different kinds of solid matter and cash has its seen properties. Some are soft like the fabrics and other are hard like steel. Some are Brittle like the hard clay. Some are Malleable like the gold and some are ductile like the copper wire. Some are strong like wood and ion. Some solid can use be made into very thin sheets. This property is called ductility. Hardness is also another property of solids that cannot be pounded or scratch. Remembering Science Facts - Solids have definite shape, definite volume and definite mass. - Is solids the molecules are very close to one another. Solids have these properties: 1. Hardness 2. Brittleness 3. Ductility 4. Malleability 5. Strenghth
