Getting to know me, getting to know all about me..

Hello there, I recently completed an OMS management profile assessment from the Assessment and Development Group Inc. I thought Id start with a snippet from my results: You are an open, warm and easily approachable person who likes to be actively involved with other people. With a strong competitive drive, you excel in situations where you are able to use your verbal and social skills. Couldnt have said it better myself really. It continues: An independent person. Able to focus your ideas around a vision, you have the imagination and the creativity to originate ideas and the persuasive skills to garner the support of others. That was nice of them. Oh and just one more piece, I love this bit: Your strengths are most evident in competitive or challenging circumstances where you have to respond quickly to change and come up with solutions to problems. These strengths include self-assurance, self confidence, a sense of urgency, initiative, and the ability to battle back in the face of resistance. How many CVs are there that simply state someones qualifications but fall flat when it comes to show their personality.
What Ive learned:
When Ive read CVs in the past, I left school with very little GCSEs, Ive looked at the list of Degrees, a grade C in math's as I always PHDs, HNDs and GCSEs. Ive had a knack for numbers and been impressed by some and not finance but other than that, nothing so with others. like the youth of today. I was, at the time, in a relationship so I opted to stay in Newcastle and get my HND rather than go to uni for my degree. Another 2 years later and I graduated with my HND in Drama. I also became a father for the first time. I had been supporting my time at college with a part time job, working at the Tyne Theatre , helping out on I knew this didnt really like sport or drinking or would be a seminal point the box office and also using my numbers and working in the accounts department part time. I moved to Blackpool and worked as a box office supervisor during the summer season of 99 and then moved to London and worked as an entertainer at the Millennium Dome, which was great fun. But something was missing, my relationship with my daughter.

For a few month I worked as a 999 emergency call operator but with the call centre closing, I secured a position at Sage in technical support. Combining my computer knowledge, my numeracy skills and my professional and friendly personality and ability for talking to people. It made sense and paid well. 10 years later, and Im still there. Ive been married, had two more children and though still at Sage, Ive moved around in a few positions along the way to where I am now.

Throughout my career at Sage, Ive been actively involved with our CSR team taking part in a number of charity and fundraising activities including Its a Knockout, cycling coast to coast and The Sage Apprentice.
