The Jackrabbit football team clinched the game opener with Dirk Kool breaking up a potential game-winning two-point attempt with only two seconds remaining in the game! SDSU won over Southern Utah in a 29-28 victory. ~ SUU took an early lead with an 11-play, 75-yard drive in the first quarter. Brown scored on a 25-yard pass. ~ SDSU got back in during the second quarter with an 82-yard drive that ended with a field goal by Kyle Harris. ~ Halftime score was SDSU 9, SUU 7.

PLAY BY PLAY

~ SDSU ruled the third quarter and scored three times to build a 29-7 lead. ~ SUU snuck back in the fourth quarter to come within a point, but SDSUs defense crushed the Thunderbirds dreams of gaining the win.

Run Jacks RUN! Both the men and women cross country teams are setting the pace at their respectable meets. One of those individuals that seem to have lightening speed is senior Greg Vollmer. In only September, Vollmer has captured The Summit Leagues Cross Country Athlete of the Week. He finished the 8k or 4.9 miles in 25 minutes and 14 seconds!

There was no denying the fact that SDSU brought their passion, patience, and practice to Fishback Soccer Complex when they took on UND on Sept. 14th with a 5-1 finale. We came out to do a job and we finished it. We are working a lot better together; more as a team. - Kelsey Ferguson

~ Ford scored with a crossed ball from Huegli giving a 1-0 halftime lead. ~ Kingston passed to Miller, who hit Ferguson to make it 2-0 Jacks! ~ UND scored in second halfs 27th minute narrowing the margin to 2-1. ~ Jurgens scored next with Costello instantly scoring another goal making the score 4-1 Jacks. ~ Braffet put the icing on the cake with a final goal, which also moves her into the sixth all-time in career scoring with 46 points!!

Hometown: Sioux Falls, SD Favorite athlete: Boo Weekley Best Summit League experience: It was awesome finishing in third place. I put two solid rounds together coming in. Lowest 18-hole score: 65 How did you get so good: Summer golf is really important for golfers just because its the season when we golf the most, and its the season when we excel the most. You definitely have to take advantage of that. Favorite SDSU class: PS 102 Crops & Land Management Goals for the season: Its my last year. Im a senior now. Ive kind of told myself Ive embarrassed myself enough the first three years. Theres nothing I havent done before, so Im just going to go out there and have fun and hopefully win a tournament. Thats my biggest goal, and then hopefully I can win the conference or get a bid to go to regionals.

Jackrabbit volleyball is at full throttle and dont seem to be looking back. Most recently the Jackrabbits ran over the Roos in Kansas City with a 3-0 win. I thought we came in with a solid game plan and that our players executed it well, said head coach Phil McDaniel. Kelli Fiegen led the Jackrabbits with 10 kills on the night and did not record a hitting error in 18 swings for a .556 hitting percentage. She also added five block assists in the win. Fresh off her 1,000 kill milestone on Friday, Ellyce Youngren finished with nine kills, an ace, two block assists and seven digs! Lexi Fowler tied a career-high and led the Jacks with 13 digs. She also added 30 set assists for her third-career double-double and second in three matches. Shay Birath added 12 digs in win, which gives her 976 for her career, leaving her just 24 shy of joining the SDSU 1,000-Digs Club. The 11-7 Rabbits are looking to return home this Saturday against rival NDSU, so make sure to Back the Jacks at Frost Arena at 1:00 p.m. ~ Shay Birth enters the 1,000 Dig Club as only a junior! ~ Ellyce Youngren had a HUGE milestone by making her way into the 1,000 kill of her career! ~ Kelli Fiegen received Summit League Player of the Week!
