Process Measurement System: One of the seven deadly sins is not implementing a measurement system together with implementing

the process. We have established a process measurement system for our car manufacturing company. Following are the key steps in our process measurement system: 1234prepare to measure Identify, construct and operationalize measures Implement the measurement process Evaluate performance and link to action

Prepare to measure: Here a process measurement team will be established and they will be prepared for their assigned task. Organization strategic direction will also be reviewed in this step which provides very clear guidance on what to measure and how often. Team will also do the process analysis. They will review the any previously done AS-IS analysis to prepare them for the measurement f the process. Identify, Construct and operationalize measures. Designing, developing and implementing the process measurement system is not very different from designing, developing and implementing of organization level measurement system. However, process measurement system is less complex as correlation between customer requirements and performance are very much clearer. In this step, first thing to do is identify and set indicators like understanding what is

important to measure, how to collect data identification of key decisions made by process managers. The next thing to do is identifying reference points and standards, means to say what stakeholders want, need and desire and negotiating standards with stakeholders. The next step is to construct portrayal mechanisms, deciding how to convey info, to who, and how often, deciding how to portray the information and constructing portrayal mechanisms.

Finalize Improvement Goals and Targets 5. Deploy the Measurement Process Provide Training to Process Users

Evaluation of performance: in this step we will do the collecting and loging of data, comparing data to targets and study. And the last step is to review performance and act in which the main steps would be reporting to senior leaders, link action to planning and maintain documentation. (Semper paratus 2007)
