1. strategy : n. plan that is intended to achieve a particular purpose

--By careful strategy she negotiated a substantial pay rise.

2. by no means : in no way, not at all

--She is by no means poor, in fact, she’s quite rich.

3. diligence : n. [u] careful and hard effort

--She shows great diligence in her school work.

4. nevertheless: ad. however; in spite of that; still 然而,尽管如此

-- a small, nevertheless fatal error.

很小却是致命的错误

5. command: n. [u] ~(of sth) ability to use or control sth; mastery 使用或控制某事物

的能力;掌握

--He has good command of French.

--You’re always complaining.

7. at fault: responsible for a mistake; in the wrong 有责任;有错

--My memory was at fault.

我记错了。

There is no indications that security arrangements were at fault.

8. at a time: on each occasion

e.g. Don’t try to do everything at once, take it a bit at a time.

9. be bound to :be certain or very likely to 肯定会

e.g. You’ve done so much work that you’re bound to pass the exam.

Differences of opinion on various issues are bound to exist.

10. frequent: a. occurring or appearing quite often or at close intervals 经常的:时

常或间歇很短的发生或出现 (frequently ad.)

e.g. Rain is frequent in summer.

11.constant: a. Continually occurring; persistent. (ant: inconstant)

12. commit: to consign for future use or reference or for preservation:交付,保管:

13. acquaintance: n. knowledge of sb or sth; ( a relationship with) sb youknow a

e.g. Short acquaintance brings repentance.

14. concentrate on : focus attention on

⑴ not only… but also…

前后两部分连接的句型结构,单词词性一致。

not only...but also 它一般是多用做连接并列的成分,但是偶尔也可以用来连接两个并列的

句子.例如: Not only did he complain about the food, he also refused to pay for it. 当

not only...but also 位于句首,同时连接两个并列分句的时候,需要倒装: Not only did he

complain about the food, but he also refused to pay for it. 上面的句子就把 did 提前

了,进行了倒装. 在进行这样的倒装的时候,如果是一般过去时,就把 did 提前,如果是进行时,

就把 be 提前,如果是一般现在时就提前 do/does(根据主语的单复数来决定用哪个.);句序

的变化,参考我上面给你的那个例子就可以了.这种情况一般来说都是很少见的. 另外在我

们写做的过程中,当然是,能够增加句型的多样性最好了. 但是这是在你全部掌握你所运用

的句型的基础上来做的. 如果你对某个句型或者语法点不是完全掌握,运用自如,那么我建

议,就是规规距距地用正常语序,这样一来,保证你在语法方面不被扣分.
