1. Can you tell me about your marketing communications and how effective they are? and do you think your marketing communications can be improved... Thanks
McDonald's has been in the UK for over 30 years now and it always tries to remain contemporary and progressive when keeping up with the changes in the business and meeting the demands of customers needs and expectations. Therefore the advertising and marketing of the company constantly evolves to reflect these changes. McDonald's believes that being transparent and communicating with all its stakeholders customers, suppliers, local residents etc is important in creating a positive image. Part of ensuring this is to have an up to date positioning in the market around which to base the best available menu, service and communications. With careful attention to detail, extensive research into the wants and tastes of its customers and the use of various media and marketing, McDonald's has cultivated an image and brand that gives millions of customers every day a great place to eat, socialise and have a great experience. McDonald's UK restaurants are split fifty-fifty between those owned by the company, and others owned by franchisees. There are approx 250 franchisees who own 50% of the stores. You maybe interested to know that McDonalds UK is owned by McDonalds Inc in the Unites States, but neither own franchised stores. Within McDonald's company and franchised restaurants in the UK, there are around 67,000 employees and over 1,200 restaurants McDonalds has worked very hard over the year, and recent sales figures for 2007 although not released yet, show that the hard work has paid off. However, in 2006 global sales were $22bn. The US market accounted for 35 per cent along with the European market. The current stock price of McDonalds is approximately $51.98. The McDonalds executive organisational department areas are as follows: at the top are the chairman and chief executive officer, and the chief operating officer. Below that, the departments are broken down into: corporate affairs, marketing, human resources, national operations, regional managers, finance, information, and strategic planning. Other functional departments within McDonalds are legal, customer services, franchising, security, hygiene and safety, property and construction, supply chain and restaurant services. The majority of campaigns are TV based which means that they have a broad reach and aim to appeal to a wide range of people. McDonald's uses a variety of advertising media to communicate its products and services in a way that best speaks to customers: television, radio and the internet are a few examples. The type of media used varies depending on the type of products or promotions in question and the audience that McDonald's is trying to reach. For example, a breakfast promotion should be most effective on radio or in print, as this is most likely to be the type of media the target customers will be consuming at that time of day.
