Decision Making We aim to support the identification, investigation and sharing of promising practices for values-based decision-making, and have a particular interest in exploring the value of using deliberative processes.
Some questions were asking:

1. What models and approaches for public engagement have been adopted in this case. 2. How do we measure successful public engagement? 3. How can citizens be supported in order to make informed choices about the use of health services? The effective management of knowledge is critical for organizations that are striving to gain or maintain a competitive advantage and that are in the process of restructuring for the new century. Decision-making is an important factor for growing organizational memory with newly created knowledge and a broader base of perspectives to use in subsequent decision-making situations. Given a

particular decision context and a decision maker with a set of personal values, it may be very difficult to see all sides of the issue. This model provides a framework that decision-makers and researchers can use to better understand and facilitate the use of multiple perspectives in decision-making and organizational memory enhancement. This abstract also suggests the use of agent technology as a basis for multiple perspective decisionmaking support. Some more about relevance of value based decision making. In the society in which students and adults live, the need to think and to make the right decisions is of utmost importance. Students are faced with decisions about peers, drugs, driving habits, education (grades), jobs, sex, etc. every day. As they become older adults, they will be faced with decisions about children, money, jobs, elderly parents, etc. At the different levels of maturity, it is the hope that decisions will be made on values that are proper for society as well as the individual. When it comes time to make that decision, and if there is a conflict in

making that decision based on values and morals, it is hoped that "what ought I do" to make the best possible decision be considered. By using a decision making model, students will learn to stop and think and then make the decision based on the values they hProblem Analysis vs. Decision Making
It's important to differentiate between problem analysis and decision making. The concepts are completely separate from one another. Problem analysis must be done first, then the information gathered in that process may be used towards decision making.

Problem Analysis Analyze performance, what should the results be against what they actually are Problems are merely deviations from performance standards Problem must be precisely identified and described Problems are caused by some change from a distinctive feature Something can always be used to distinguish between what has and hasn't been effected by a cause Causes to problems can be deducted from relevant changes found in analyzing the problem Most likely cause to a problem is the one that exactly explains all the facts

Decision Making Objectives must first be established- The values-based decisionmaking and public engagement are those decision making have a critical role to play in managing their own. The Foundation acknowledges that organizations need to do a better job of engaging and informing citizens, of involving the public in setting priorities for healthcare, and of including public values and priorities in making decisions. Objectives must be classified and placed in order of importance Alternative actions must be developed The alternative must be evaluated against all the objectives The alternative that is able to achieve all the objectives is the tentative decision The tentative decision is evaluated for more possible consequences The decisive actions are taken, and additional actions are taken to prevent any adverse Old Purposeful selection from among a set of alternatives in light of a given objective. Decision-making is not a separate function of management. In fact, decision-making is intertwined with the other functions, such as Planning, Coordinating, and Controlling. These functions all require that decisions be made. For example, at the outset, management must make a critical decision as to which of several strategies would be followed. Such a decision is often called a strategic

decision because of its long-term impact on the organization. Also, managers must make scores of lesser decisions, tactical and operational, all of which are important to the organization's well-be research the objective.
