Syrias Crisis of Expression

.. Andres F. Sanchez Wars..killings..and thousands of innocent lives lost daily. No one can deny the fact that the muslim culture has the most complex list of complications than any other culture in todays world . Islamists are involved in violent combats with every nonmuslim culture and every non-muslim nation and territories . To make the matters worse, when Islamists are not fighting with non-muslims they insist on fighting and destroying each other and along with it the, islamic nation as a whole. And what is seen today has been true for hundreds of years. But today i come to talk about a nation that is a good example of the violations that millions of muslims are put through daily;a nation whom we call Syria. Under the harsh totalitarian laws, expressing ones opinion is out of question for some syrians. The law enforcement has led the media to were they cannot efficiently transmit and broadcast their message to the population of syrian territories. This pathetic attempt to stop the flow of information inside and out the country has reached the point at which yahoo, hotmail and some other free-web based emailing have been blocked. The syrian constitution guarantee some laws as to the freedom of speech and even though ,the constant restrictions of this so called privilege leads to deaths of innocent people trying to express their feelings and concerns. As many things are in the world today, freedom of speech can be discussed from numerous viewpoints or perspectives. One of these viewpoints can be seen as very positive and entails an amazing realm of possibility, which includes the fundamental existence of democracy as well as human dignity. Speech has also allowed man to pass down knowledge from generation to generation, learning from both success and mistake to further progress the evolutionary cycle of mankind. If the syrians continue to imply such harsh laws and regulations in the country, how would our future business leaders and professionals undergo the future development of this country. I am strongly concerned for not only the present but also the future of this nation, i believe that undergoing the protection of free speech in syria will require ambitious political, cultural and legal effort, one that demonstrates how this oppression undermines their quality of life, and in many cases their very lives. There is unmistakeable evidence showing that the repression of the government in Syria creates a free space for future acts of terrorism and wars.In order to stop the suppression of such laws that put the populations lifestyle on the edge we must reject any limitations on freedom of expression as the united nation we should be.Thank you.
