Research Experience
2007 Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India.
Presently doing a project under the supervision of Dr.Padmavathi, Rajiv Gandhi School of
Intellectual Property Law.
Topic: Patents on Yoga: Critical Analysis.
2006 Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, India.
Conducted winter training under the supervision of Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharma, laboratory of
Chronobiology. The lab deals with the effect of light dark cycles on various behaviors of drosophila.
Topic: Effect of agonist and antagonist of d5HT1B on the locomotor activity of drosophila thereby
assessing the rhythmic expression of d5HT1B receptor gene.
Lab Experience
• Nano-Bio Interface: This was held at SINP (Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics), Kolkata during March 3-6
2006. The conference was to discuss the interface between Nano-Technology and biology. I presented a
poster on “Role of Pectin in Cancer Therapy: Delivery of pectin through nanoparticles"
• Indo-French Bioinformatics Meeting: This was held in NCBS during July 13th-15th 2006 where various
concepts on Bioinformatics were discussed. I attended the conference and was exposed to various
databases and tools in bioinformatics.
• Computational Insights into Biological Systems (Incob Satellite meeting 2006): This was held at Indian
Institute of Science, Bangalore during December 26th-28th 2006. I gave a talk on “Are Serotonin Receptor
Genes under Circadian Control?” in this conference.
• 2007 Rockefeller University Neuroscience Retreat: This was held at The New York Botanical Garden,
New York. I attended the Neuroscience Retreat where the eminent scientists of Neuroscience from The
Rockefeller University have presented their work.
• Notch Signaling: TGF-beta mediated epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) by Tessy Thomas,
Post doc, National Center for Biological Sciences.
• T-Helper cells and immune response by Satish Devadasa, University of Medicine and Dentistry, New
Jersey delivered at National Center for Biological Sciences.
• Protein palmitoylation and the sub cellular trafficking of Ras family GTPases by Robert
J.Deschenes, Medical college of Wisconsin, Wisconsin delivered at National Center for Biological
Sciences.
• Molecular assessment of genetic variability of Ecoraces of Indian Tasar silkworm (Antheraea
Mylitta) by Sonali, Indian Institute of Technology Khragpur.
• Cyclins and Stem Cells in Cardiac Regeneration by Hina Chaudhary, M.D; Columbia University at
The Rockefeller University, New York.
