ADAPT-ABI 2009 Release Notes

August 2008

Feature Enhancements
This release of the program features major enhancements in productivity, scope and accuracy. The following is a summary of the principal enhancements: 3D Modeling The program allows you to model a bridge consisting of segments, piers, tendons, loads and supports in a 3D modeling environment. You can construct the bridge alignment in 3D space and create the bridge geometry in reference to the alignment. If segmentally constructed, each bridge segment can be assigned graphically to a construction stage. The event manager allows you to specify in detail the construction progress of the bridge, including operations, such as adding or removing loads, stressing, adding or removing bridge parts or shoring. The program features a bridge wizard that lets you create straight bridges with piers and loads. ABI 2009 generates the analysis input data automatically based on the structure that you modeled in the 3D modeling environment. The program allows you to modify the input data after it is generated. In addition to ACI-209 (1978), ACI-209 (1992, CEB/FIP (1978), CEB1/FIP (1978), European-EC (2004), British-BS8110 (1997), HongKong Code, and AASHTO (1994) the program now features the Indian-IS 1343:1980 concrete material model. ABI 2009 allows you to specify user defined concrete models including shrinkage and creep data and lets you store them in a library. The program contains a Moving Load Library where you find predefined load trains for AASHTO and IRC. You can add and modify load trains and save them to a library. The program also allows you to open any ABI 2009 load library. The program features a Section Manager that allows you either to use pre-defined cross section types or to define an arbitrary cross section. You also have the option to import a cross section from DWG. The Section Manager allows you to save your cross sections to a library and to open any ABI v5 section library. You can view and examine the analysis results in a 3D viewer.
