Eighth International Conference on Switchgear & Controlgear 24th & 25th November 2011, Mumbai, India India is on an upward curve with its economy growing at a scorching pace of 8% plus every year and holds great promise. The Indian electrical industry is growing at an AAGR of 10-12% in value terms every year and is well on its way to becoming the manufacturing and sourcing hub for the world. Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA) organizer of SWICON-2011, is the apex representative national organization of manufacturers of electrical, professional electronics and allied equipment having over 750 members, whose combined annual turnover is over Rs. 100,000 crores i.e. USD 22 billion (Euro 17 billion). SWICON dealing with the Switchgear and Controlgear industry is held at 3-4 year intervals and offers an international platform for exchange of information, technical discussions and obtaining first hand knowledge of current Trends in Switchgear and Controlgear Technology. SWICON-2011 is the eighth in its series, the first SWICON being organized in 1984.

The previous SWICON, i.e. SWICON-2008 was attended by 362 delegates and 61 papers were presented over two days (20 papers from overseas). Mr. Denis Dufournet Areva T&D, France and Dr. Carl-Enjar Solver ABB, Sweden delivered the keynote addresses at SWICON-2008.

Theme: EMERGING TRENDS IN SWITCHGEAR


The theme for SWICON-2011 conveys the confidence of the Indian Switchgear Industry and the opportunities it offers. Members felt that both China and India are the largest emerging markets for electrical equipment and their needs are also quite unique. However, the global demand should not be ignored. The theme Emerging Trends in Switchgear is the most apt and representing theme for SWICON, which will address both present and near future trends and needs in India and across the globe.

SWICON-2011 will cover the entire range of Switchgear and Controlgear from: Low Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV), High Voltage (HV), Extra High Voltage (EHV) and Ultra High Voltage (UHV).

Lifetime Achievement Award


SWICON-2011 Organizing Committee announces a lifetime achievement award to be presented to a doyen of the Indian Switchgear Industry. The same will be selected by a special committee.

Call for Papers


Technical papers for presentation at the Conference are invited on the topics mentioned above and papers should have relevance/consonance with the theme of the Conference. The technical papers should be based on actual work done, results obtained and future technological trends etc.

Important
The papers presented previously in any Conference or published in any Journal in India are not acceptable. The authors are required to give a declaration to this effect. For participation at Conference, authors will also have to register by paying the delegate fee. At least one Author in case of multiple authors has to be present at the conference for presenting the paper.

Web Enabled SWICON-2011


All pre-conference activities shall be WEB-ENABLED for SWICON-2011. Prospective Authors are requested to submit their synopsis on the designated website only: www.swicon.ieema.org (link also available on www.ieema.org). The synopsis should preferably be upto 500 words and submitted not later than 15th January 2011 for approval of the conference scrutiny committee.

Steps for Submission:


1) Go to www.swicon.ieema.org 2) Click on submit your synopsis Note: Synopses / Final Papers sent through e-mail will not be entertained. Acceptance of your synopsis along with the comments (if any) by the SWICON-2011 Scrutiny Committee will be intimated to you by 31st January 2011 on the e-mail address submitted by you.

Final Papers
Authors of the selected synopsis will be advised to submit full & final papers by 15th April 2011. The length of the paper should generally not exceed 6-pages, including figures, in the format that will be forwarded to authors along with detailed instructions. The final papers will be scrutinized by the SWICON-2011 Scrutiny Committee for acceptance and inclusion. Authors will be intimated about the status of their submitted final papers latest by 25th June 2011. Official Language of the Conference is ENGLISH.

Conduct of Conference
IEEMA believes that participation of delegates through contributions and discussions on questions represents the real success of a professional conference. A CD containing technical papers will be sent to authors and registered delegates well in advance.
