. of pupils : 30 pupils Subject : Science Theme : Investigating Living Things Learning Area : Animals and plants protect themselves Topic : Survival Learning Objective : At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to understand that animals have specific characteristics and behaviour to protect themselves from danger. Learning Outcomes: Pupils will be able to: i) Name five types of specific characteristics and behaviour of animals to protect from danger. ii) Make a model of an imaginary animal that has special characteristics that protect it from its enemies.

Prior Knowledge:
Pupils know from previous lessons that animals need to attack and defend

themselves.

Scientific Skills:

Science Process Skills: Observing, Predicting, Interpreting data, Communicating and Relating. Thinking Skills: Attributing, Predicting, Relating and Visualizing. Manipulative Skills: Use and handle the materials and objects.

Scientific attitudes and noble values:


a) Being cooperative in group.

b) Responsible in carrying out the task given. c) Being responsible about the safety of oneself, others and environment. d) Daring to try. e) Being confident and independent.

Teaching and learning resources: Three garden snail, pictures of animals, manila card, slide show, empty can drinks of various sizes, sponge, toothpicks, cotton wool, clear plastic bottle and worksheet.

Safety Precautions: a) Keep an eye on towards pupils safety. b) Make sure pupils are using materials correctly.

Phase/Time Engage (5 minutes)

Content Behaviour of garden snail

Teaching and Learning Activities Teacher will bring three garden snails to class.
