It is equally applicable to HR, Accounts, Procurement, Production, Sales, R&D, The Six Sigma Green Belt works as core member of six sigma team. Green Belt training is ideal for the individual looking to expand their career, because the tools and mindset that they learn will carry them forward as far as they choose to go. Individuals are taught how to apply statistical methods of analysis to process improvements in communicating business strategy; applying the DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve and control) process, selecting and prioritizing projects, planning and executing projects, and selecting the correct statistical tools for the job, all the while significantly increasing profitability through the use of Six Sigma. It analyzes and solves business problems innovatively or statistically and is involved in production maximization and Cost minimization, Customer satisfaction and Profit Improvement. A Green Belt is someone with at least two years of work experience who wants to demonstrate his or her knowledge of Six Sigma tools and processes. An organization who wants to stream line her systems and process as per Six Sigma methodology needs a number of green belts to form six sigma project teams.
Improving customer satisfaction Accelerating process cycle times and time-to-market Reducing defects Controlling variation and improving predictability Reducing costs without "unintended consequences" Improving end-to-end process management and measurement
Improvements in these areas usually represent dramatic financial benefits to businesses, as well as opportunities to retain customers, capture new markets, and build a reputation for topperforming products and services. Six Sigma in its most basic terms is used to minimize deviations or defects in a core process, thereby speeding up delivery of product and service. Every mistake made in the business world costs money, and can possibly result in the loss of customers. At the very least, work will need to be re-done which is a waste of time, material, efficiency and money. a) It is a structured approach - if we follow the process, people will not forget any important steps along the way before they implement the solution. b) It helps quantify the benefits and thus make it easier to sell the improvements to senior managers in the company. c) It uses facts & data and the rigor of statistical testing to arrive at the right root cause instead of fixing symptoms or putting band-aids. d) There is a greater likelihood of the solution being sustainable if we follow the Six Sigma process. e) Six Sigma focuses of solving the right problems using the project selection matrix. f) It has proven itself in a large number of deployments. Frankly, there is no better tool out there to make process improvements - especially when the root cause or the solution is not known.
