dedicated

I care about the work I do, because I believe in it. I regularly put in time during my evenings and weekends to make sure the site hasnt gone down in flames yet. At Xomba, where community manager was just one of the hats I wore, I made an effort to use the site as often as possible so that I could look for areas where members might be having trouble or ways we could improve the site. I believe that a community manager has to be part of both the team and the community in order to effectively serve both.

WORK

XOMBA.COM
JULY 10 - SEPT 11

Years of activism, two semesters of work at my alma maters LGBT Resource Center, a course on Teaching Diverse Populations, and multiple field experiences in my stint as an Education major have helped me to become open-minded, accepting, and accommodating. I am also empathetic and compassionate by nature, and my natural inclination to care about other people has been endlessly useful in my work doing customer service, helping to build online communities, and working with staff and volunteers alike.

adaptable

A year of fighting to protect Xombas image and reputation.

Amanda has successfully taken the job of one and a half people and accomplished it all herself. She has shown great initiative to make things more clear and efficient in the moderation process.

EDITORIAL ASSISTANT

My approach to new tasks tends to be Ive never done that before, but Id love to learn how to do it. There are a few exceptions (sky diving, for example... why anyone would jump out of a perfectly good plane is beyond me), but, generally, Im open to trying anything. If I dont know how to do something, Ill learn, whether that means asking someone or looking it up so I can teach myself. The great part is that I love to know a little about a lot of things. I never know when a random skill will be handy.
