Social situation Mexico - USA

There are different situations or factors that cause a social reaction either negative or positive, this
kind of behaviors are of interest to social psychology, because its core research is in the group or
in cases of larger national scale. The study or analysis of these behaviors can be in a certain group
or country, but it can also be presented between two groups or nations with different cultures or
ideals to know the relationship that is generated as a result of various variable factors.

Mexico and the United States are two nations that since their inception have forged a very close
alliance on many issues, in terms of trade, investment and treaties, in addition to planning and
orchestrating acts against events that affect both countries, such as organized crime, human
trafficking or drug sales that are very present in the border between them.

At a social level they also have a friendly relationship in culture, being neighbors causes that
inhabitants of both nations travel or decide to reside in the opposite country, affecting the
combination or fusion of both cultures, but in the same way we can talk about negative thoughts
between these countries in recent times. The main attitudes that have been taken in some areas of
these nations is the discrimination of the natives, generating prejudices against them and in
serious cases, violence against them.

Recently this relationship has been affected by political factors, prejudiced comments by some
politicians have generated a social gap between these nations as well as increasing rejection and
negative opinions towards the inhabitants.

The origin of Mexico and the USA as a nation

Historically both nations have shared some similar social events that had an impact on their social
development, since the first years when societies began to be founded in different parts of the
world their bases lacked many norms or equality among inhabitants, this kind of situations in
addition to the need of some people to have or obtain more than others were the main factors
that caused a great amount of conflicts, confrontations and wars that sometimes had a
permanence of several years. This kind of situation and the need of some people to have or obtain
more than others were the main factors that caused a large number of conflicts, confrontations
and wars that sometimes lasted for several years, and both Mexico and the United States were no
exception.

The United States was involved in several well known conflicts in other countries, suffered the
conquest and colonization by Europe, but among the best known is its participation in the first and
second world war, wars that involved several countries invading the territory of others, leaving as
an important change in these countries the fusion of races, and that would generate over time a
modification of genes and customs, because during these conflicts nations adopted customs or
races. These wars involved several countries invading the territory of others leaving as an
important change in these countries the fusion of races, and that would generate with the passage
of time a modification of genes and customs, because during these conflicts the nations adopted
customs or inhabitants of the enemy changing the social structure.

On the other hand, Mexico was also affected by the Spanish conquest which was one of the
strongest influences that changed the culture of our country, the arrival of food, inhabitants or
customs by the conquerors completely changed the culture forged by the Mayas which was one of
the largest established in our territory.

Later the war between classes would mobilize society to achieve equality and rights for all
regardless of origin or race belonging, the result of the cross between natives and Spaniards
mainly, within the main factors that affected in later years the social change are the character who
assumed the presidency and economic activities, causing the social evolution in our country.

The impact of affect and cognition on religion.

Religion is a set of activities established by a certain group with the purpose of contacting or
knowing about what happens after death or to attribute a meaning and origin to the existence of
the individual in this life, in addition to providing him with a series of rules to live his life and relate
to other people that seen from their ideals are appropriate. There are several religions in the
world and each one of them promotes its own beliefs, norms and rituals accepted by its
community.

Although the perception or acceptance of religion in societies has changed over the years as a
result of the many investigations that sometimes contradict some facts that these doctrines claim
as the basis of their foundation, there is also that part of society that is devoted to their beliefs
and decides to propagate them.

One of the main factors of belief in religion has its family origin, because as mentioned in social
psychology, affection and cognition have a relationship, where the situation or circumstances in
which one has contact with something new influences what they believe of this event, the beliefs
of this kind are inherited by the family, if a mother or father professes a particular one, it is
common to see that they instill these same ideas to their children and when relating them to
family activities, their acceptance is affected in a way that is not always accepted. If a mother or
father professes a particular belief, it is common to see that they instill these same ideas in their
children, and by relating them to family activities, their acceptance is affected in a positive way.

It has also been known cases of people who have an approach with some kind of religion to ask for
a favor or answer from it and if it is fulfilled this person will relate religion with positive aspects
and his approach to it will be affected, while if he does not get a solution he will generate negative
references to that religion.

Attitudes between the two companies in the face of an adverse situation

At present the people who play an influential role in society are the main ways of thinking, from
those who exercise in mass media to political people whose ideas are replicated by many media
and heard in the same way by many people which causes the replication of these thoughts and
ideas. These beliefs will affect the behavior of society in a given situation, such as in the case of a
discrepancy or conflict.

In recent months Mexico and the United States have faced a situation that requires the
intervention of both nations, the issue of immigrants has mobilized both societies in opinions,
positions and attitudes, the influence of ideals granted by political figures have aggravated this
situation because in previous years and governments the acts against these people were not as
recurrent as they are today and one of the factors that altered this figure were the discriminatory
comments of the current U.S. president against Mexican immigrants. One of the factors that
altered this figure were the discriminatory comments of the current U.S. president against
Mexican migrants, opening the way for people to act with greater freedom to offend these
individuals, comments, discriminatory acts or violent acts are the main attitudes taken by U.S.
society, which generated discontent in Mexican society before the acts committed and triggering
negative thoughts towards the opposing culture.

The attitudes that a society decides to take in an adverse situation with another nation are
affected by the prejudices it has about that society, although in other circumstances the acts that a
society commits will reflect its ideals or thoughts.

Emotion in the social context

Emotions are organic reactions that occur or are caused by an external stimulus, and that will
result in a reaction or act under the influence of the same. Acts at group level will also be affected
by these reactions, it may be the case of transmitting the feeling and creating a contagious
reaction or the same reaction created at the same time in different people.

The society of each country has acted and made decisions in a group or individual way but always
under the influence of information and emotions, when an individual makes a decision or acts in
some way allows to some extent that their emotions play an important role in it.

In addition, emotions are a fundamental part of the social relationship, whether family, work or
affective, because the feeling or reaction that a specific person generates in us, whether positive
or negative, will allow us to forge a relationship or not.

Stereotypes, prejudice and social discrimination

As we have already mentioned, the current situation between Mexico and the U.S. in their social
relationship has been affected by a series of comments and attitudes that have been taken by
people with a social profile and that influence the opinions or beliefs regarding the neighboring
culture, prejudices against Mexicans that affect U.S. growth by behaving and acting in a criminal
manner and being pointed out as the main cause of crime in general is a recent prejudice in our
neighboring society and that consequently has caused resentment towards our natives generating
violent acts or behavior, discrimination or isolation. This is a recent prejudice in our neighboring
society and as a consequence has caused resentment towards our natives generating violent acts
or behavior, discrimination or isolation.

On the other hand, our inhabitants have taken defensive postures towards the Americans, in the
cases of Mexicans who emigrate to the USA and forget or omit all traces of their life in our
country, the idea has been generated that these people along with those born in that country
have a feeling of disdain or superiority towards our culture, these ideas or beliefs accompanied by
attitudes or actions committed by some U.S. citizen of discrimination to our country have
originated as a response contempt or dislike to its inhabitants and society in general, transforming
the relationship in uncomfortable, but this is something recent, besides not being absolute
because this kind of prejudice is not absolute. These ideas or beliefs accompanied by attitudes or
actions committed by an American citizen of discrimination to our country have originated as a
response disdain or dislike to its inhabitants and society in general, transforming the relationship
in uncomfortable, but this is something recent, besides not being absolute because this kind of
prejudice and negative acts are not perpetrated by all the inhabitants, others are able to relate
without any psychosocial phenomenon.

Mexico and its social identity

As we have already explained, social psychology is in charge of studying the behavior of societies
and how they behave in the different situations they may face.

Mexico is a society rich in many aspects, customs, gastronomy, flora, fauna, landscapes among
others, but an important part of its national identity and for what it is recognized by other
countries is its people, who contribute a lot to this identity, besides the prejudices that have been
attributed to us in the last months due to the verbal conflicts with the United States, Mexican
people are known for their empathy and warmth with foreigners, because although there are
inevitably individuals who discriminate against these people, the vast majority of natives accept
and even have inclusive attitudes and actions with visitors from other nations.Although it is
inevitable that there are individuals who discriminate against these people, the vast majority of
natives accept and even have inclusive attitudes and actions with visitors from other nations, but
this acceptance is not disproportionate, because if the generous acts are not repaid in the same
way the Mexican rejects this person or group and affects their experience in the country.

"Dreamers" in the social context in Mexico

The United States has managed to become a world power due to its growth in various areas,
investment, education, economy among many others, this fact makes it a country with great
opportunities for its inhabitants and those who wish to migrate to it to be able to believe.
These individuals who migrate to other countries in search of better work or life opportunities in
general are viewed positively in some cases, since their idea of moving to another country to grow
shows interest and feelings for improving their current life, but this same fact may generate
suspicion.

As we have already mentioned, Mexicans have created an idea that Americans consider
themselves superior to our culture due to the aforementioned factors and these people who
decide to migrate to the U.S. from Mexico support this idea because some of them, as we have
mentioned, try to forget their Mexican origins and even acquire these discriminatory behaviors.
There are also cases in which people who leave the country do not return, giving them the
opportunity to escape their responsibilities at the expense of this phenomenon.

Cognitive dissonance in U.S. migration policy

Since the arrival of Trump's administration, anti-migration activities and policies have been a topic
of debate for both nations, not only because of the repercussions for people of Mexican origin, but
also because of the way in which deportations are being carried out, which have been exposed in
many videos as acts committed with aggression or violence.

Although there are norms or rules that regulate the migratory act and the way the system in
charge of it proceeds, there have been cases in which these norms were not followed or respected
as they were established.Although in some countries, including Mexico and the U.S., marrying a
native allows you to remain in that country legally, during the wave of deportations from the U.S.,
there were situations in which this legal union was not enough to prevent this from happening.

One of the events that most shocked societies was the separation of minor children and their
parents because they are migrants and although the immigration policy causes undocumented
immigrants not to reside in the country, the way in which the system acted was what caused the
discontent of the people, because in addition to not giving them the opportunity to take their
children with them, the conditions in which they were kept in custody of the minors were not
indicated. was what caused the discontent of the people, because in addition to not giving them
the opportunity to take their children with them, the conditions in which the children were kept in
custody were not the right ones, which caused serious damages to the children and in some
regrettable cases, some deaths.

Conclusions
Social psychology studies analyzes the behavior of the individual within a group or the behaviors
that arise as a result of the interaction between a given group of individuals.

Psychology will help us in the knowledge of the human mind in different aspects of his life, but in a
personal way, while social psychology will see it in a group way, as society relates to its
development, as well as changes and vice versa.
In this activity we managed to group a series of acts or events present in societies, either in a
specific one or independently as well as how two nations can relate and the psychological
phenomena that may arise as a result of this interaction and the factors that influence their ideals,
ways of acting and relating to foreigners.

Being able to know the history that our society has built and the decisions it has made to be in the
place where it is will allow us to learn from those wrong actions or those that will allow us to grow
even more, but above all, knowing how a society works or develops allows us to change, improve
or eradicate that which does not benefit it.
