Mayombe is a Congo word that means an honorary title governor, magistrate or

superior chief.

Call mayombero a person who is a sorcerer of conga traditions, he is an officiant of

Mayombero is a summary, the intimate relationship of the spirit of a dead person,

which together with the animals, the waters, the minerals, the earth, the sticks and

attachment of its devotees to religious orthodoxy, the practices inherited from the
Mayomberos and jealously guarded have been transmitted orally to their
godchildren for generations from the 16th century to the present.

These practices are based on the interrelation with the spirits of the
ancestors and the dead, with the vibrations of everything in Nature. The followers
of this palo monte rule are described as TATAS (Fathers of Prenda) mayomberos,
gaduleros, paleros and the women of Nyanys, or Nkisas mothers.

Also the derogatory name of Brujos, in the latter the lack of knowledge on
the part of some people is noticeable. In the social sphere, those who see us as
antisocial elements, thinking of this religion, are only criminals, and elements of the
underworld, having that lacking concept of a community that professes the love of

In the area of Pinar del Río, near the Cusco hill, the town of Cañas is
