Instructions:
The purpose of the template is to support the student in building their PA3 and also facilitate submission
through the Virtual Classroom.
 Academic Product 3 has two parts.
 The first part contains the development of the references.
 The second part contains the writing with quotes.
When finished, save the document with your names and surnames in PDF format and send it through the
Virtual Classroom.

FIRST PART

Build the complete bibliographic reference of each of the sources you chose for the research topic.
Classify each source as indicated in the boxes to the right. Finally, indicate whether it is a book,
magazine, newspaper article, blog or other.

SECOND PART:

Choose a topic or concept that has been covered in the two sources you chose. Develop this theme
or concept considering the following:
̶ Complete the introductory paragraph by presenting the topic and objective of the text.
̶ Include two quotes in total: a direct quote from one of your sources and an indirect quote from
the other source.
̶ Complete the final paragraph with a conclusion or final comment.
̶ IMPORTANT : Quotes must be commented on, explained, compared or analyzed. They cannot
simply appear in the text.

TOPIC: Chemistry

INTRODUCTION

Formerly, compounds of animal origin, such as sugars, proteins, phospholipids, enzymes, or also
products derived from them such as rubber, oil, natural gas, alcohol, etc. It necessarily had to come
directly and indirectly from some type of living being. At the beginning of the last century, a
German chemist Wöhler, using ammonium cyanate, accidentally heated it and managed to form an
organic substance whose name is urea, thus synthesizing the first organic substance from an
inorganic substance, completely destroying the life theory that was used to explain organic
compounds. However, it should be noted that currently there are more than ten million organic
substances, both natural and synthetic. That is why this famous experiment takes on such relevance
for this field of chemistry.

DEVELOPMENT

Chemistry is a very complex part of the natural sciences, that is, to this day new organic and
inorganic chemical substances continue to be discovered, in order to improve industrial products,
both in the food and non-food part. . “Chemistry is present in everything: our food, its quality, its
conservation; our clothing synthetic fibers, dyes, our health medicines, disinfectants” (Valles, 2011,
p. 99), this means, chemistry is a fundamental, essential science, vital for human development and
our society.

Chemistry, due to its high variability, that is, it covers many branches of other sciences such as
medicine, physics, biology, etc. It is also known as central science.

Compared to other disciplines, the idea that chemistry is more difficult, at least at
the basic level, is common. This perception is justified to a certain extent, for
example, it is a discipline with a very specialized vocabulary. However, if this is
the first chemistry course you are taking, you are already familiar with the subject
much more than you might think. In everyday conversations we hear words
related to chemistry, although not necessarily used in the scientifically correct
sense. (Chang, 2013, p. 2).

In order to understand the chemistry course, it is not only enough to know the basic principles of
chemistry or talk about everyday things, such as where chemical phenomena occur such as in the
cooking of food, but also to know the chemical language, the latter will make that the chemistry
course runs more smoothly.

Learning Management

Chemistry was born since our antiquity as a need of our humanity, and not as the simple fact of
knowing one more science course. Chemistry over time has evolved based on the industrial
revolution and technological advances that provide us with knowledge and awareness to be able to
take care of our planet. (Chang, 2013).

CONCLUSION

Chemistry is the most important natural science for man and society. Therefore, chemistry is
understood as the science that studies matter (material substance that is throughout the universe and
is subject to change), chemistry also studies the structure, composition and the transformations that
occur within it. You cannot understand a natural, artificial, biological, physical, etc. phenomenon.
Without chemistry and if it is not applied to what surrounds us, we will not be able to move forward
into the future. That is to say, without chemical knowledge we will not be able to improve our
quality of life and even more so that of our planet.
