Breast Cancer Awareness Mass


Please join the Womens Commission of the Archdiocese of Newark for a Mass for Breast Cancer awareness for those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 12 noon at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart 89 Ridge Street, ewark Archbishop John J. Myers will be the celebrant. Catholic High School Open Houses


Mount St. Mary Academy, Watchung Sunday, October 23
Presentations at 1:30 and 3:00 p.m. in Mercy Hall on the school campus and visitation of the facilities will be held from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. The Mount is a private Catholic College-preparatory school for girls and offers transportation from all areas. The ENTRANCE TEST for 8th grade students will be held at the Academy on Saturday, November5th at 8:30 a.m. Pre-registration is required. If you volunteer at the Academy, with the Scouts, the CYO, as a Catechist or any other ministry which works with children you are required by the Archdiocese to attend the Protecting Gods Children class and complete some paperwork. This class will help you to be alert to the signs of children being abused, and of the behavior of people who might be a threat to them. Everyone, particularly parents, can benefit from this information. To make this easier, we are offering this two-hour class here at OLP as listed below. More classes will be scheduled as needed. Our High School Youth Ministry offers a Variety of

Cooking for Our Priests

Thanks to all who have been cooking, but we programs to reach the youth of our parish. Throughout the could use more volunteers.
year, the youth ministry team and staff will be offering numerous service opportunities, community building gatherings, sporting events, monthly youth Masses, prayer services, leadership training and other special events. Please prayerfully consider how you can help pass along our faith to the your Church. There are tons of ways to get involved! Your presence really does make a difference in the lives of youth. If you would like more information about volunteering and other areas of support, please contact our High School Youth Minister, Tracey Vieira at hsyouth@olpnp.com or call the rectory office at 908-464-7600. Because the rectory no longer employs a cook, Fr. Bill is asking parishioners to help by cooking meals for Frs Bill, Charlie and Philip on Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesday of each week. If you would like to help cook wellbalanced, nutritious meals to be dropped at the rectory by 5:00 p.m., please call coordinator Sue Janazzo at 908-4643896.

Sandwiches eeded for Donation


On October 18th, we will deliver sandwiches made at home by parishioners to St. Josephs Social Service Center. The sandwiches will be used in various community outreach programs. Here is how you can help: Buy a loaf of any kind of bread. Turn the loaf of bread into sandwiches by using your choice of sandwich fillings (e.g., any type of cold cuts, peanut butter & jelly, etc. You can put a little mustard on the bread but no mayo or butter, please!). Put each sandwich into a baggie. Return the wrapped sandwiches to the loaf wrapper and close it up. Tape a piece of paper to the loaf wrapper telling the kind of sandwiches you have made. Bring the sandwiches to Our Lady of Peace on the Tuesday morning: From 7:00 am to 8:45 am, sandwiches can be left in the vestibule of the church on the side closest to the Rectory. From 9:00 am to 9:30 am, sandwiches should be brought to the lobby of the Parish Hall. At 9:30 am, we leave to deliver sandwiches to St. Josephs! Thank you!

Weekend Retreat
Loyola House of Retreats, the Jesuit Retreat, in Morristown, offers a time to relax, away from business problems and family worries, a time to reflect and get a fresh slant on your life, a time to pray, to reawaken a sense of he reality of God, and to grow in the precious gift of faith. The men of OLP are invited to join their brothers in Christ on retreat the weekend of October 1416. Fr. Steve Pugliese will offer reflections on the theme Serenity. Prayer Shawl Ministry


Prayer shawls are available for anyone who needs an extra hug from God. They are hand made while prayers are being said to give blessings to those who receive them. October 6, 13, and 20 7:00 - 9:00 PM The five presentations will be spread out over the three evenings. After each of the five presentations there will be brief group discussions.

The Holy Mass 101 is a lecture series intended for all parishioners, confirmation age and older. The format of the course is DVD lectures followed by a brief group discussion, depending on the option chosen.

Mens Cornerstone Presents Holy Night


Join us Monday evening October 17th at 7:30 for an evening of prayer and reflection. Though we grew up saying daily prayers, it can seem daunting at times. Using the guide Give Us This Day, we are given prayers for the morning and evening including Scripture, intercessions and other helpful prompts. Mass texts and reflections convey the depth and breadth of Scripture, and of Gods love for us in Christ. We will be serving Randazzos pizza and refreshments We look forward to see you.
